The TLH series multifunctional extraction and concentration unit for traditional Chinese medicine is the core equipment of modern Chinese medicine production. It integrates functions such as extraction, concentration, and solvent recovery, and improves production efficiency and product quality by optimizing the process flow. The following provides a detailed introduction to its process flow and diverse application scenarios.
1、 Core process flow
1. Extraction stage
Pre treatment of medicinal herbs: Put the medicinal herbs into the extraction tank and add 5-10 times the solvent (such as water, ethanol, methanol, etc.) according to the process requirements to ensure that the herbs are fully soaked.
Heating extraction: Turn on the heating system to boil the extraction solution and maintain it for 20-30 minutes, promoting the dissolution of active ingredients through dynamic circulation. For easily oxidizable components, low-temperature extraction process can be used to maintain activity.
• Solvent reflux: The extracted liquid is partially transferred to the concentration tank through a filtration tube, and at the same time, the secondary steam is condensed and refluxed to the extraction tank as a new solvent, forming a closed-loop cycle until the extracted liquid is colorless and the components are dissolved.
2. Concentration stage
Vacuum concentration: The extract is concentrated in a concentration tank, with a temperature controlled at around 80 ℃ and a vacuum degree maintained at -0.05 to -0.09MPa to avoid high temperature damage to thermosensitive components. The secondary steam generated during the concentration process is recycled back to the extraction tank to improve solvent utilization efficiency.
• Specific gravity control: Continuously concentrate until the liquid reaches the predetermined specific gravity, forming ointment or intermediate, providing high concentration raw materials for subsequent formulations.
3. Solvent recycling and waste disposal
• Organic solvent recovery: If ethanol or other organic solvents are used, the solvent can be recovered by heating and evaporating after extraction, and the residual drug residue can be further processed or discarded.
• Volatile oil collection: equipped with an oil-water separator to effectively separate volatile oil components and meet the processing needs of aromatic medicinal materials.


2、 Multiple application scenarios
1. Conventional water extraction and alcohol extraction
Water extraction process: suitable for extracting water-soluble components such as polysaccharides and glycosides, such as Huangqi and Licorice, and improving the extraction rate through dynamic circulation.
• Alcohol extraction process: For lipid soluble components such as alkaloids and flavonoids, ethanol reflux extraction is used, combined with low-temperature concentration to reduce component loss.
2. Extraction of special ingredients
• Volatile oil extraction: Utilizing the built-in oil-water separator of the unit, volatile oils are efficiently collected from medicinal herbs such as peppermint and tangerine peel, preserving their natural aroma and pharmacological activity.
Low temperature extraction: For heat sensitive components (such as certain vitamins or enzymes), normal temperature or low temperature extraction processes are used to ensure component stability.
3. Multi stage and continuous countercurrent processes
Multi stage countercurrent extraction: By connecting multiple tanks in series, the new solvent contacts the medicinal materials in a countercurrent manner, achieving high concentration gradients and significantly improving leaching efficiency, making it suitable for large-scale production.
Continuous countercurrent extraction: such as a rotary extractor, the herbal medicine and solvent move in reverse, and dynamic extraction makes the components dissolve more thoroughly, suitable for high value-added products.
4. Integrated production line
• Automation control: The unit can integrate a PLC system to achieve real-time monitoring and automatic adjustment of parameters such as temperature and vacuum degree, improving process stability.
• Combined use with drying equipment: the concentrated ointment can be connected with a spray dryer to directly prepare dry powder, shorten the production cycle, and is suitable for the production of granules or capsules.
