In the operation of LPG series centrifugal spray drying towers, negative pressure is not a simple physical parameter, but a core variable that directly affects product quality, energy consumption and production stability. It becomes an "invisible lever" for optimizing the drying process by regulating the airflow environment inside the tower, accurately controlling the rate of water evaporation and the residence time of materials.

1、 The core function of negative pressure: accelerating evaporation and preventing powder loss
The negative pressure of the centrifugal spray drying tower is formed by the air pressure difference between the exhaust fan and the inlet fan, which is usually maintained in the range of 50-150Pa. This environment can lower the boiling point of water, allowing droplets to evaporate rapidly at lower temperatures, especially suitable for drying heat sensitive materials.
Another key function of negative pressure is to prevent material from escaping. By maintaining a slight negative pressure inside the tower, even if there are small gaps in the equipment, the airflow will flow from the outside to the inside, avoiding dust leakage.
2、 The chain reaction of negative pressure imbalance: dual risks of quality and efficiency
1. Excessive negative pressure(> 200Pa) will accelerate heat loss and reduce thermal efficiency. When a certain chemical enterprise was drying polycarboxylate superplasticizer, the negative pressure reached 250Pa due to the excessive selection of exhaust fan. The residence time of hot air in the tower was shortened by 40%, and the inlet air temperature needed to be increased from 160 ℃ to 200 ℃ to maintain the drying effect, resulting in a 25% increase in energy consumption. In addition, excessive negative pressure may also cause droplets to "splash", resulting in uneven particle size distribution of the product. In a case of drying ceramic raw materials, excessive negative pressure caused the median particle size to shift from 50 μ m to 80 μ m, affecting the subsequent molding process.
2. Low negative pressureIf the pressure is less than 50Pa, it will cause insufficient evaporation of water and the material will stick to the tower wall. A certain traditional Chinese medicine extract drying project once experienced tower wall agglomeration due to negative pressure loss of control, requiring a shutdown for cleaning every 2 hours, resulting in a 60% decrease in production efficiency. More seriously, in a low negative pressure environment, the contact time between hot air and droplets is prolonged, which may cause discoloration of thermosensitive materials or decomposition of active ingredients. A vitamin C drying test showed that when the negative pressure was below 50Pa, the product color changed from white to light yellow, and the active ingredient content decreased by 15%.
3、 Precise regulation: an upgrade path from experience to intelligence
Modern equipment achieves negative pressure closed-loop control through variable frequency fans and pressure sensors. For example, a certain enterprise adopts LPG series equipment equipped with a PID control system, which can automatically adjust the frequency of the exhaust fan according to the characteristics of the material, and control the negative pressure fluctuation range within ± 10Pa. For high value-added materials, the particle morphology can be further optimized by adjusting the atomizer speed. A certain nano material drying project successfully increased the particle porosity from 45% to 60% by synchronously reducing the negative pressure (to 80Pa) and atomizer speed (to 18000rpm), significantly improving the adsorption performance of the product.
The ultimate goal of negative pressure regulation is to achieve the golden balance of "quality efficiency cost". By setting the negative pressure parameters scientifically, LPG series centrifugal spray drying towers can not only increase the water evaporation rate to three times of the traditional equipment, but also control the product disqualification rate below 0.5%, providing key technical support for high-quality production in food, pharmaceutical, chemical and other industries.
