Application of laboratory granulator in drug development process
Date: 2025-12-21Read: 6
Laboratory granulator is a device used for preparing granular substances, widely used in fields such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, chemicals, etc., especially in drug research and small-scale production, playing an important role. Its main function is to convert powdered substances into particles through mechanical or other methods, and the size and shape of the particles can be adjusted according to demand. This type of equipment is typically used for small-scale experimental production, and therefore plays an important role in the research, quality control, and optimization of drug formulations.

  Laboratory GranulatorWorking principle:
1. Material preparation: Suitable powders or powders need to be prepared first. During this process, it may be necessary to screen, dry, or pretreat the raw materials to ensure their particle uniformity and flowability.
2. Mixing: In some granulation processes, the granulator also needs to mix the materials. By stirring, rotating, or other methods, various components are uniformly mixed to make the composition and characteristics of the particles more consistent.
3. Granulation: When the mixed material enters the granulator, it is usually formed into particles through compression, extrusion, or impact. According to the type of granulator, the size, shape, and density of the particles may vary.
4. Drying or cooling: Some granulation processes may require further optimization of particle quality through drying or cooling steps. Especially in the production of drugs and cosmetics, the drying step helps to remove excess moisture and maintain the stability of the particles.
5. Screening and Collection: Ultimately, the pelletized material is usually screened through a sieve to remove particles that do not meet specifications, and the particles that meet the requirements are collected.
Application fields:
1. Pharmaceutical industry: used for small-scale production and quality control in the process of drug development. By granulation, the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of drugs can be improved, thereby enhancing their efficacy. In addition, the granulator can also be used to test the effects of different formulations, helping researchers optimize the composition and ratio of drugs.
2. Food industry: The food industry uses granulators to granulate powdered foods, such as milk powder, seasonings, candies, etc. By adjusting the granulation parameters, the size, shape, and solubility of the particles can be controlled to optimize the taste and product characteristics.
3. Cosmetics industry: in the production of cosmetics, it is often used for the preparation of granular raw materials, such as facial mask, skin cream, etc. The granulator helps improve the stability, dispersibility, and extensibility of the product, enhancing the quality of the final product.
4. Chemical production: It can be used for granulation treatment of chemicals, especially for the production of chemical raw materials with special requirements, such as catalysts, plastic particles, etc.
Advantages of laboratory granulator:
1. Precise control of particle size: It can accurately control the size, shape, and density of particles to meet the needs of different applications.
2. Efficient production: High efficiency in small-scale production, able to quickly obtain particles that meet the requirements.
3. Strong adaptability: Suitable for different types of materials and process requirements, with strong adaptability, able to meet the needs of multiple industries such as pharmaceuticals and food.
4. Strong adjustability: Most granulation parameters (such as speed, pressure, humidity, etc.) can be adjusted, and users can adjust process conditions according to specific needs.
