Sunlight and humidity are the main factors causing material aging, with sunlight being a major cause of degradation for many materials. The types of degradation, such as physical property degradation, powdering, cracking, peeling, fading, and color changes, are related to the sensitivity and spectrum of the material, and each material has a different spectral response. In most durable materials, such as coatings and plastics, short wave ultraviolet radiation is an important factor causing polymer aging. However, in non durable materials, long wave ultraviolet and even short wave visible light are the main causes of this phenomenon. So how is the xenon lamp aging test conducted on product materials?

Xenon lamp aging test can simulate the hazards caused by sunlight, rainwater, and dew. Xenon lamp is used to simulate the effect of sunlight exposure, and condensed moisture is used to simulate rainwater and dew. The tested material is placed in a cyclic program of alternating light and moisture at a specific temperature for testing. It can reproduce the hazards of outdoor exposure for several months or even years in a few days or weeks. Artificial accelerated aging test data can help people choose new materials, modify existing materials, and evaluate the impact of formula changes on product durability.
Scope of application of xenon lamp aging test
Automotive interior and exterior materials, electronic product casing materials such as plastics, textiles, coatings, and other materials, as well as electronic product casing materials.
