Workflow of Salt Spray Corrosion Test Chamber
Date: 2025-12-31Read: 6
In the durability testing of products, the salt spray corrosion test chamber plays a key role. It accelerates the evaluation of the corrosion resistance of materials or products by simulating the corrosion conditions in the ocean or high salinity environment, providing important basis for quality control and product design. Today, the editor will take you to understand the workflow of the salt spray corrosion test chamber.
The salt spray test chamber simulates a stable salt spray environment through precise system collaboration. The workflow can be divided into the following key steps:
1. Saltwater preparation and injection
Saltwater preparation: Use a 5% sodium chloride solution (NSS test) or a solution with added copper chloride (CASS test) to ensure that the solution concentration and pH value meet the standards (such as neutral range 6-7).
Water injection system: The prepared saltwater is injected into the saltwater tank through a water pump to prepare for subsequent heating and atomization.
2. Salt water heating and evaporation
Heating system: After entering the saltwater tank, the saltwater is heated to 35 ℃ (NSS test) or 50 ℃ (CASS test) by an electric heater, causing the saltwater to evaporate and produce water vapor.
Airflow regulation: Water vapor passes through an airflow regulator to ensure uniform flow and velocity, maintaining environmental stability inside the test chamber.
3. Salt spray generation and spraying
Atomization process: The heated water vapor is mixed with compressed air and converted into fine salt spray particles (particle size 5-10 microns) through a nozzle or atomizer, simulating the salt content in natural rainfall.
Environmental control: Maintain a temperature of 35 ℃± 1 ℃ and a relative humidity of 85% ± 5% inside the test chamber to allow salt spray to adhere to the surface of the sample and form an electrolyte solution, accelerating electrochemical corrosion.
4. Sample exposure and testing
Sample placement: The test sample is placed inside the box and exposed to a salt spray environment. The sample placement angle (such as 15 ° -30 °) and position must meet the standards to ensure even coverage of salt spray.
Test cycle: Set the time according to the requirements (such as 24 hours to thousands of hours), continuously observe the corrosion phenomenon until the predetermined degree of corrosion is reached.
5. Exhaust and cleaning
Exhaust system: After the test is completed, the salt spray gas inside the box is discharged through the exhaust system for easy cleaning or the next test.
Result evaluation: The corrosion resistance level is determined by observing the degree of surface corrosion (such as rust, coating peeling) and corrosion rate of the sample, and comparing it with the standard (such as GB/T 10125).
