Common faults and solutions of stacked plate and frame filters

1、 Hydraulic system malfunction

1. Insufficient pressure or inability to maintain pressure

Phenomenon: Insufficient clamping force of the equipment leads to leakage between the filter plates or the inability to form effective filtering pressure.

Reason: Insufficient hydraulic oil, damaged oil pump, malfunctioning relief valve, or pipeline leakage.

Solution: Check the oil level and replenish hydraulic oil, replace damaged oil pumps or relief valves; Identify leakage points and repair pipeline sealing.

2. Loose filter plate or oil leakage

Phenomenon: The wear of the hydraulic cylinder piston seal ring leads to oil leakage, affecting the clamping effect.

Reason: O-ring aging or friction loss, hydraulic system running at high frequency for a long time.

Solution: Replace the sealing ring, check the wear of the piston rod, and regularly lubricate the guide rod.

2、 Abnormal filtering efficiency

1. Slow filtering speed

Phenomenon: The rate of filtrate discharge significantly decreases, or the formation of filter cake is uneven.

• Reason: clogged filter cloth, high feed concentration, residual air in the filter chamber or accumulation of foreign objects on the sealing surface of the filter plate.

Solution: Clean or replace the filter cloth, dilute the feed concentration, open the exhaust valve to vent the air, and clean the residue on the sealing surface.

2. The filter cake has a high moisture content or is loose

Phenomenon: The moisture content of the filter cake exceeds the standard, making it difficult to effectively separate solid and liquid.

Reason: Insufficient feed pressure, poor permeability of filter cloth, or deformation of filter plate leading to poor sealing.

Solution: Increase the feed pressure to the rated value of the equipment, replace the high-precision filter cloth, calibrate or replace the deformed filter plate.

3、 Mechanical component issues

1. Filter plate rupture or deformation

Phenomenon: Leakage caused by cracking at the edge of the filter plate or uneven sealing surface.

Reason: Overpressure operation, hard foreign objects getting stuck in the filter chamber, and fatigue of the filter plate material.

Solution: Control the working pressure within a safe range, clean up foreign objects in the filter chamber, and replace damaged filter plates.

2. Filter plate walking offset or stuck

Phenomenon: The filter plate does not move smoothly, causing the equipment to fail to close or open properly.

Reason: Accumulation of oil stains on the guide rod, insufficient lubrication, or deformation of the track.

Solution: Clean the guide rod and apply high-temperature grease to correct the straightness of the track.

4、 Sealing failure and leakage

1. Leakage between filter plates

Phenomenon: Liquid seeps out from the seam of the filter plate, contaminating the filtrate or environment.

Reason: Wrinkled/damaged filter cloth, residual filter residue on the sealing surface, or insufficient hydraulic pressure.

Solution: Replace the filter cloth and clean the sealing surface with a nylon scraper to increase the hydraulic system pressure.

2. Inlet blockage

Phenomenon: The material cannot enter the filter chamber normally, and the filtration is interrupted.

Reason: Solidification of high viscosity materials, accumulation of solid particles, or improper installation of filter cloth.

Solution: Use steam tracing to prevent solidification, clean the feed channel, and adjust the flatness of the filter cloth.
