In the process of separation and purification, many people tend to choose oil pumps. During the operation of the oil pump, oil and gas may be generated, or phenomena such as oil return and spray may occur, which brings unnecessary trouble to the experiment. In fact, we can choose the corresponding vacuum product according to the application needs.

1. Negative pressure filtration/extraction: primary diaphragm pump
Vacuum filtration or extraction does not require high requirements for vacuum degree control and ultimate vacuum degree. Under the condition of 100mbar, 90% atmospheric pressure can be used as an effective driving force for negative pressure during filtration or extraction. The normal selection of a first stage diaphragm pump can meet the experimental requirements; If the filtered material is hydrophilic or viscous, it is recommended to choose a diaphragm pump with a higher ultimate vacuum degree;
2. Vacuum centrifugal concentration: first/second/third stage diaphragm pump
Vacuum centrifugal concentration is particularly suitable for sensitive biological samples, such as proteins, nucleic acids, and other substances. Therefore, the main purpose of vacuum centrifugal concentration is to obtain high concentration samples without issues such as cross contamination, sample loss, sample denaturation, reduced sample activity, or oxidation. The diaphragm pump produces no water, oil, or waste media, and does not cause additional contamination to the sample.
3. Rotary/parallel evaporator: two-stage/three-stage diaphragm pump&vacuum control
The vacuum requirements of a rotary evaporator vary greatly depending on the type of solvent and evaporation temperature, but using a three-stage diaphragm pump is sufficient to meet the commonly used solvent evaporation requirements in the laboratory. Even high boiling point solvents such as DMF/DMSO can be easily evaporated; Of course, with a vacuum controller, almost all rotary evaporation experiments can be applied to achieve good evaporation efficiency. Additionally, VACUUBRAND's automatic boiling point detection technology can suppress sample boiling, free up hands, and shorten experimental time.
4. Vacuum drying: two-stage/three-stage diaphragm pump&higher pumping speed
Vacuum drying ovens are commonly used for drying highly sensitive substances, especially for obtaining high-quality drying residues. The drying process usually requires a good ultimate vacuum, which is determined by the dryness requirements, acceptable working temperature, and solvent used. Under certain process parameters, a large amount of steam is often generated, so the selected vacuum pump needs to be able to provide sufficient pumping speed. Diaphragm pumps produce no water, oil, or waste media, while oil pumps are likely to experience oil reflux during use, causing contamination of the drying oven and samples.
5. Freeze vacuum drying: rotary vane pump&chemical hybridization pump
Freeze drying is a method of obtaining dryness by pre cooling and freezing substances containing water or other solvents into solids, and then directly sublimating them into gases under vacuum. Therefore, it requires high vacuum degree and pumping speed, and usually chooses a two-stage rotary vane pump. VACUUBRAND's unique chemical hybrid pump technology can reduce oil consumption by 90% compared to a single rotary vane pump, and minimize the condensation of solvents in the pump chamber, reducing internal corrosion, extending maintenance cycle and service life.
