Reasons and solutions for boiling caused by rotary evaporator

The usual causes of boiling are as follows:

1、 Solid precipitation occurs during operation.
2、 The rotational speed of the rotary evaporator bottle is too high.
3、 The temperature of the bath pot is too high, for example, the temperature of ethanol generally does not exceed 35 ℃.
4、 The round bottom flask is immersed too deeply in the water bath, and coupled with high temperature and fast rotation speed, it is prone to boiling.

How to deal with the explosion boiling of rotary evaporator? Below are several solutions provided for you:

1、 Negative pressure distillation can be reduced, and even atmospheric distillation can be used.
2、 Reduce the distillation temperature appropriately.
3、 Adjust the speed according to the specific situation.
4、 Replace the recycling bottle with a larger capacity. Generally, the smaller the capacity of the recycling bottle, the more solvent to be recycled, and the more likely it is to boil. Distillation in small amounts each time, distillation multiple times.
5、 Adding zeolite (not recommended as it will waste ionic liquid when removed after adding zeolite)
6、 A common method is to open the ventilation valve slightly when using rotary steaming, but it can also increase the pressure, so you don't have to be afraid of boiling. However, you must be on the side to watch, and you need to control the angle and suitability of the ventilation valve
7、 A more troublesome method is for the operator to watch the experiment next to the rotary evaporator. If boiling is to occur, the air should be released immediately and the negative pressure should be slightly reduced.
