Common faults and solutions of wireless temperature and humidity transmitters
Date: 2025-12-17Read: 5
Wireless temperature and humidity transmitters are widely used in industrial monitoring, environmental control, and other fields, and their stability and reliability are crucial for data acquisition. However, the device may encounter various malfunctions during operation, which can affect measurement accuracy and communication efficiency. This article is based on common fault phenomena, systematically analyzing the causes and providing targeted solutions to help users quickly locate the problem and restore the normal function of the device.
1、 No display or abnormal display
Fault phenomenonThe device screen has no display or displays garbled or fixed values (such as zero or full range).
  Root cause analysis:
Power issuePower interruption caused by battery depletion or poor contact of the power cord.
hardware failureInternal circuit components are damaged, such as display screen or motherboard malfunction.
Configuration errorImproper instrument parameter settings, such as mismatched range or communication protocol.
  solution:
Replace the battery or check the power connection to ensure that the voltage is stable within the required range of the device.
Restart the device to eliminate temporary software failures; If it is ineffective, the display screen or motherboard needs to be replaced.
Re calibrate the instrument parameters and configure the range and communication settings correctly according to the instructions.
2、 Inaccurate data readings
Fault phenomenonThe temperature and humidity values remain consistently high, low, or frequently fluctuate, which does not match the actual environment.
  Root cause analysis:
Sensor issuesPoor contact, damage or incomplete insertion of the probe into the medium, resulting in signal distortion.
Improper installation positionClose to heat sources, cold sources, or areas of airflow disturbance, which affects measurement stability.
Environmental interferenceElectromagnetic noise or mechanical vibration interfere with signal transmission.
  solution:
Check the sensor connection and tighten the wiring terminals; If the probe is damaged, replace it with a sensor of the same model.
Adjust the installation position, stay away from areas with severe temperature gradients, and ensure that the probe is in full contact with the medium.
Use shielded cables to reduce electromagnetic interference, or install anti vibration devices to isolate mechanical vibrations.
3、 Communication interruption or instability
Fault phenomenonThe device is unable to communicate with the Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) or has poor online regularity.
  Root cause analysis:
Signal obstructionPhysical obstacles (such as metal structures) attenuate wireless signal strength.
Configuration errorImproper setting of network number, channel number or antenna position.
Insufficient power supplyThe battery voltage is below the threshold, causing the communication module to malfunction.
  solution:
Optimize antenna position to avoid obstruction; If necessary, add repeaters to enhance signal coverage.
Check the device configuration to ensure that the network parameters are consistent with the RTU, and recalibrate the channel.
Monitor battery voltage and replace batteries with insufficient power in a timely manner.
4、 Abnormal temperature or pressure data
Fault phenomenonThe temperature display shows a fixed value (such as 140 ℃) or the pressure value is too small, which does not match the actual working conditions.
  Root cause analysis:
Probe malfunctionThe temperature sensor is not tightened or the pressure diaphragm is damaged, resulting in signal interruption.
Blockage of pressure holeImpurities block the pressure measurement channel, affecting data accuracy.
Over range useExtreme working conditions such as oil well pressure build-up exceed the equipment's tolerance range.
  solution:
Reinstall the temperature probe and ensure it is securely fastened; If the pressure diaphragm is damaged, replace the transmitter component.
Clean the pressure hole and maintain it regularly to prevent blockage.
Select equipment with range matching to avoid operating under over limit conditions.
5、 Suggestions for troubleshooting system level faults
For complex faults, it is recommended to follow the following steps:
External inspectionConfirm that there are no abnormalities in the power supply, wiring, and installation environment.
Signal testingMeasure the sensor resistance or output signal with a multimeter to determine if there is an open circuit or short circuit.
Calibration verificationCalibrate the transmitter using a standard signal source and adjust the zero and range parameters.
Professional SupportIf self inspection is ineffective, contact the manufacturer for in-depth diagnosis or firmware upgrade.
By systematically analyzing the causes of faults and taking targeted measures, the operational efficiency and data reliability of wireless temperature and humidity transmitters can be significantly improved. Regular maintenance and preventive inspections are key to reducing the occurrence of malfunctions.
