What are the factors that affect the drying effect of microwave dryers?
Date: 2025-04-23Read: 2
Microwave drying is a new drying method. During the drying process, microwave energy directly acts on the medium molecules and is converted into thermal energy. Due to the penetrability of microwaves, they can simultaneously heat both the inside and outside of the medium without conducting heat, resulting in a very fast heating speed. For food with a moisture content below 30%, the drying speed can be shortened by hundreds of times. What factors will affect the drying effect of a microwave dryer?
1. Drying air volume:
The medium that can remove moisture from raw materials is the amount of dry air, which affects the dehumidification effect. Excessive air volume can lead to high return air temperature, resulting in overheating and affecting dew point stability. Too little air can't take away the moisture in the raw materials. Airflow is a representative of the dehumidification capacity of a microwave dryer.
2. Drying temperature:
Drying temperature refers to the temperature of the air entering the drying bucket. Due to the physical properties of each raw material, such as molecular structure, specific gravity, specific heat, water content, etc., the drying temperature will be limited. If the temperature is too high, some additives in the raw materials may evaporate, spoil, or clump. If the temperature is too low, some crystalline raw materials may not meet the required drying conditions. In addition, insulated drying drums should be selected to avoid loss of drying temperature, resulting in insufficient drying temperature or energy waste.
3. Dew point temperature:
When a gas is cooled to a temperature that condenses moisture into water droplets, the less moisture there is in the gas, and the lower the dew point temperature. This is a unit for measuring the dryness or humidity range of a gas. Generally speaking, a dew point temperature of -40 is a good dew point for dehumidifiers.
4. Drying time:
Refers to the pre drying time of the raw materials to be dried before molding. Reasonable drying time should be customized according to the conditions of the raw materials to be dried. A short drying time can lead to high moisture content in the raw materials, which cannot achieve the drying purpose. However, prolonged drying time can cause raw materials to clump or deteriorate, resulting in energy waste.
The above are four factors that affect the drying effect of a microwave dryer. If you find that the drying cannot achieve the desired effect while using the microwave dryer equipment, you can check if these factors are related.
