Microwave sintering is a method of sintering materials using microwave heating. Microwave sintering technology is a method that utilizes the absorption of microwave energy by materials to convert it into kinetic and thermal energy of internal molecules, allowing the material to be uniformly heated to a certain temperature and achieve densification sintering. It is an important technical means for rapidly preparing high-quality new materials and traditional materials with new properties. Compared with conventional sintering methods, microwave sintering has the advantages of rapid heating, low sintering temperature, refined material structure, improved material properties, no pollution, and high efficiency and energy saving, and is therefore known as the new generation of sintering methods

Compared with traditional sintering processes, workpieces produced by microwave sintering technology have higher density, hardness, and toughness. Short term sintering produces a uniform fine grain microstructure with few internal pores. The pore shape is rounder than traditional sintering, resulting in better ductility and toughness. Due to the high penetration of microwaves into most powder ceramic materials, they can uniformly heat the workpiece, reduce the temperature gradient during high-temperature sintering, and thus reduce material deformation caused by uneven expansion, making rapid heating possible. Moreover, the residence time at high temperatures can be significantly shortened, suppressing grain growth and improving the physical and mechanical properties of the material.
