What is the process principle of steam formaldehyde fumigation sterilizer?
Date: 2025-08-25Read: 3
The process principle of steam type formaldehyde fumigation sterilizer is based on the alkylation of formaldehyde gas and steam assisted diffusion technology. Its core mechanism can be divided into the following three steps:
1. Formaldehyde gasification and diffusion
Evaporate 35% -40% formaldehyde solution (formalin) into gas through a heating device, and mix it with steam under negative pressure to form a uniformly diffused sterilization medium. The humid and hot characteristics of steam can accelerate the penetration of formaldehyde molecules into the microstructure of instruments or spaces, ensuring sterilization without dead corners.
2. Alkylation sterilization effect
The aldehyde groups in formaldehyde molecules irreversibly bind with amino, carboxyl, thiol groups in microbial proteins and nucleic acids, disrupting their biological activity. This process can be completed under low temperature conditions of 55 ℃ -80 ℃, avoiding damage to heat sensitive instruments caused by high temperatures.
3. Neutralization and Purification
After sterilization, residual formaldehyde is neutralized by injecting ammonia steam, and then air flushing and steam replacement are used to remove residual gases, ensuring environmental safety. Partial equipment integrates automation programs to achieve full process control of neutralization and purification.
This technology combines the advantages of efficient sterilization and material compatibility through the synergistic effect of low-temperature steam and formaldehyde, and is suitable for the disinfection needs of surgical instruments, precision instruments, and enclosed spaces.
