Maintenance and upkeep techniques for automatic de capped centrifuge
Date: 2025-07-27Read: 4

As an important equipment in modern laboratories, the performance stability of automatic de capping centrifuges directly affects the reliability of experimental results. By establishing a scientific maintenance system, laboratories can not only extend equipment lifespan and reduce operating costs, but also ensure the reliability of experimental data. It is recommended that the laboratory develop a detailed maintenance plan, equip necessary tools and consumables, cultivate professional equipment management personnel, and incorporate maintenance work into the laboratory quality management system, in order to maximize the investment return and scientific research value of the equipment.

1、 Basic structure and working principle
It mainly consists of core components such as drive system, rotor system, temperature control system, de capping mechanism, and control system. Its working principle is to achieve sample separation through centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation, while automatically completing the removal operation of the test tube cap. The drive system provides rotational power, the rotor system carries the sample, the temperature control system maintains a suitable temperature environment, the de capping mechanism achieves automated operation, and the control system coordinates the collaborative work of various components. Understanding these basic structures and working principles is a prerequisite for effective maintenance.
2、 Daily maintenance and cleaning techniques
Daily maintenance is the foundation for ensuring the long-term stable operation of centrifuges. Immediately wipe the centrifuge chamber and rotor with a soft cloth after each use to remove any possible spills or stains. It is recommended to use neutral cleaning agents and distilled water for cleaning, and avoid using corrosive chemicals. The outer surface should be regularly disinfected with 75% alcohol, with special attention paid to cleaning the contact surface between the rotor and the basket. The sealing ring of the centrifuge cover should be kept clean to prevent sample residue from affecting the sealing performance. Control panel cleaning should use a slightly damp, lint free cloth to avoid liquid infiltration. Conduct a comprehensive cleaning at least once a week, paying special attention to the disassembly and cleaning of the rotor and basket.
3、 Key points for regular inspection and maintenance
It is crucial to develop and strictly implement a regular inspection plan. It is recommended to conduct a comprehensive inspection every three months, including checking for scratches or corrosion on the rotor, confirming that all fasteners are secure, and testing the functionality of door locks and safety interlock devices. Lubrication is a crucial step in maintenance, and bearings and moving parts should be lubricated with designated lubricants according to the manufacturer's recommended cycle. Electrical system inspection should include integrity testing of power cords, sockets, and internal wiring. A comprehensive calibration and performance verification should be conducted annually by professional technicians to ensure the accuracy of speed and temperature parameters.
4、 Special maintenance of key components
As a core component, the rotor should be regularly inspected for stress cracks or signs of corrosion, and must be cleaned and stored dry after use. The bearing system needs to be regularly replenished with specialized high-speed lubricating grease, and attention should be paid to observing whether there is any abnormal noise during operation. Motor maintenance includes regular cleaning of accumulated dust and inspection of carbon brush wear. Special attention should be paid to cleaning the robotic arm and clamping components of the de capping mechanism to prevent residue from affecting the de capping effect. The vacuum system (if equipped) needs to regularly check the oil level and quality, and replace the vacuum pump oil in a timely manner. All rubber seals should be regularly checked for elasticity and replaced promptly if aging is detected.
5、 Common fault diagnosis and handling
Unstable rotational speed may be due to power supply issues or motor faults. The stability of the power supply should be checked first, followed by consideration of motor carbon brush wear. Abnormal noise usually comes from bearing damage or rotor imbalance, and immediate shutdown inspection is required. Temperature loss of control may be due to sensor malfunction or refrigeration system issues, requiring professional repair. The common reasons for hat removal failure are misalignment of the robotic arm or insufficient clamping force. You can try recalibrating the position parameters. Door lock failures are often caused by damaged micro switches or mechanical blockages, requiring component replacement or obstacle removal. For any complex faults, it is recommended to contact the manufacturer's technical support to avoid disassembling the core components on your own.
6、 Precautions for maintenance and upkeep
Safety is the primary principle of maintenance work, and power must be cut off and the rotor must be confirmed to have stopped before any maintenance is carried out. Using original accessories and recommended consumables can maximize compatibility and performance. Establish a complete maintenance log to record the content of each maintenance, identified issues, and replaced components. Operators should receive professional training and be familiar with equipment structure and safety regulations. Special attention should be paid to the risk of biological hazards, and appropriate protective measures should be taken when handling components that may be contaminated. Regularly backup device parameters and programs to prevent data loss from affecting usage.
7、 The importance and long-term benefits of maintenance and upkeep
Scientific and standardized maintenance can significantly extend the service life of equipment by 3-5 years and reduce the rate of sudden failures by over 60%. Good maintenance can ensure the accuracy and reproducibility of experimental results, avoiding data bias caused by equipment issues. Regular maintenance can maintain optimal energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption costs by 15-20%. Preventive maintenance can save 40-50% of the total cost of ownership compared to post repair maintenance. More importantly, standardized maintenance management can effectively reduce safety risks and create a stable and reliable working environment for the laboratory.
