The use effect of square tube centrifuge is divided into adjustable factors and non adjustable factors caused by its mechanical part, which will be explained separately. Firstly, by understanding its working principle, it is possible to effectively control it during use. So, why can't the mechanical part of the square tube centrifuge be adjusted?
1. Drum diameter and effective length
The larger the diameter of the drum, the longer the effective length, the larger the effective settling area, and the greater the processing capacity. The longer the material stays in the drum, the greater the separation factor and the better the separation effect at the same speed. However, due to material limitations, the diameter of the drum cannot increase indefinitely, as the allowable maximum speed decreases with the decrease in material strength, resulting in a corresponding decrease in centrifugal force. The diameter of the drum is usually between 200-1000mm, and the length to diameter ratio is between 3-4. There is a trend towards high speed and large aspect ratio in current development, which makes this equipment more suitable for the treatment of low concentration sludge and has better sludge quality.
In addition, under the same processing capacity, the large drum diameter can operate at a lower differential speed because the spiral slag conveying capacity of the large drum diameter is greater. To achieve the same slag conveying capacity, the small drum diameter must rely on increasing the differential speed.
2. Half cone angle of drum
When the sediment settled on the inner side of the drum is pushed towards the discharge port along the cone end of the drum, it is subjected to a downward sliding reflux force due to the centrifugal force. The half cone angle of the rotary drum is an important parameter in the design of square tube centrifuges. In terms of clarification effect, it is required that the cone angle be as large as possible; In terms of slag transportation and dewatering efficiency, it is required that the cone angle be as small as possible. As slag transportation is a necessary condition for normal operation, the optimal design must first meet the slag transportation conditions. For difficult to separate materials such as activated sludge, the half cone angle is generally within 6 degrees to reduce the reflux rate of sediment. For ordinary materials, a half cone angle of less than 10 degrees can ensure smooth transportation of sediment.
3. Pitch pitch
The pitch, which is the distance between adjacent helical blades, is an important structural parameter that directly affects the success or failure of slag transportation. When the diameter of the spiral is constant, the larger the pitch, the greater the helix angle, and the greater the chance of material blockage between the spiral blades. At the same time, a large pitch will reduce the number of turns of the spiral blades, resulting in uneven distribution of material at the cone end of the drum and increased machine vibration. Therefore, for difficult to separate materials such as activated sludge, slag transportation is more challenging, and the pitch should be smaller, generally 1/5 to 1/6 of the drum diameter, to facilitate transportation. For easily separable materials, the pitch should be larger, usually 1/2 to 1/5 of the drum diameter, to improve the conveying capacity of sediment.
