Precautions for using infrared sterilizer
Date: 2020-09-11Read: 3
Infrared sterilizerThe infrared inoculation ring sterilizer adopts infrared thermal energy sterilization, which is convenient to use, easy to operate, pollution-free to the environment, no open flame, not afraid of wind, and safe to use. It can be widely used in environments such as biosafety cabinets, purification workbenches, exhaust fans, and mobile vehicles for microbial experiments.
How to judge a machineInfrared sterilizerThe most important factor for the quality of an infrared sterilizer is the heating element, which is the main component of an infrared sterilizer and has a great impact on the sterilization effect. Heating element failure is one of the main reasons for the decrease in sterilization efficiency, mainly manifested as a decrease in heating rate; Affects heat distribution; Generate dust substances. The main causes of heater failure are long-term use of the heating element or poor air quality passing through the heater, as well as the quality of the purchased infrared sterilizer itself. So when we choose an infrared sterilizer, we must carefully select and not affect the entire experiment.
The flame heating or burning sterilization devices commonly used in laboratories include alcohol lamps, Bunsen lamps, and infrared sterilizers. In this chapter, we will focus on learning the usage methods and precautions of infrared sterilizers.
1、 UseInfrared sterilizerSterilization precautions:
1. When observing bacterial morphology from specimens or cultures being tested, an inoculation ring must be used. The vaccination ring system is made of a nickel resistance wire or specially made platinum wire with moderate hardness, approximately 5-8cm long, placed on a metal or glass rod. Those without rings are called vaccination needles.
2. The vaccination ring or needle must be sterilized with an infrared sterilizer before and after each use. Even if it is burned once in the infrared sterilizer, the metal or glass rod inside the infrared sterilizer chamber must also be rotated for sterilization.
3. After sterilization by an infrared sterilizer, the inoculation ring (needle) needs to be cooled before being attached to the specimen or placed on the workbench to prevent scalding of microorganisms and burning of the tabletop. The cooling time is the same as the traditional alcohol lamp time.
4. Infrared sterilizers can also be used to disinfect microbial culture tubes made of glass materials. At this time, special attention should be paid to the absence of any liquid or other objects in the tubes to prevent liquid splashing or dangerous accidents such as explosions.
5. After observing unstained and stained specimens, they should be immediately sterilized in disinfectant solution.
6. After using a glass slide, it is important to eliminate staining bacteria on the slide before use, otherwise incorrect diagnosis may be made when using it again.
