Squeezing granulator is a specialized equipment that compresses powder raw materials into granules through mechanical pressure. Its process principle and wide applications are as follows:
1、 Process principle
1. Feeding and pre compression
Powder raw materials enter the feeding system from the hopper, undergo pre compression to remove air, and are transported to the pressure roller area. In dry granulation, the material is evenly fed into the feeding hopper through a quantitative feeder, and the pressure roller rotates in the opposite direction to bite the material into the slot.
2. Compression molding
Ring mold/flat mode: The pressure roller rotates to squeeze the raw material through the mold hole, forming a strip like material.
Dry extrusion: Two pressure rollers are tightly pressed under hydraulic drive, and the material is compressed into flakes and crushed into particles.
Rotary extrusion type: The extrusion wheel is matched with the mold to extrude cylindrical particles through holes, and then segmented by a cutting device.
3. Post processing
The extruded strip material is cut and screened, and the unqualified powder is recycled for processing. In wet granulation, steam or adhesive can enhance the adhesion of particles.
2、 Widely used
1. Pharmaceutical industry
Intermediate particles used for preparing tablets and capsules, improving flowability and reducing dust, in compliance with GMP requirements. Dry granulation is particularly suitable for thermosensitive drugs.
2. Food industry
Produce instant beverages, seasonings, etc., and control particle solubility and taste by adjusting parameters. For example, granulation of chicken essence and grains.
3. Chemical and Materials
Plastic granulation extrudes molten polymers into pellets, and can also be customized for special fields such as refractory materials.
4. Environmental Protection and Energy
Some equipment is used for fertilizer granulation, which aggregates into balls through wet methods.
3、 Key parameter control
1. Squeezing force and mold aperture: determine particle density, hardness, and diameter.
2. Material humidity: affects the granulation effect and requires precise adjustment.
3. Roller speed: directly related to yield and particle uniformity.
The rotary extrusion granulator has become the mainstream choice due to its high efficiency, energy saving, and easy operation, while the dry process has more advantages in environmental protection and thermal sensitive material processing.
