Introduction to the calibration and parameter setting steps of air conditioning duct leakage tester
Date: 2025-10-06Read: 4
As a professional detection tool, the air conditioning duct leakage tester can help engineers quickly and accurately locate the leakage points in the ducts, thereby improving the operational efficiency and energy-saving effect of the system. It is crucial to master the correct usage method in order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurement results. This article will provide a detailed introduction to the correct usage steps and precautions of the air conditioning duct leakage tester.
1、 Pipeline system preparation
1. Shut down the system
Before starting the test, be sure to turn off the entire air conditioning system, including the fan and all related valves, to ensure that there is no air flow in the pipes. This helps to improve the accuracy and safety of testing.
2. Seal the opening
Use sealing tape or specialized plugs to seal all unnecessary openings, such as inspection ports, air vents, etc. Ensure that each opening is sealed to prevent external air from entering and affecting the test results.
2、 Calibration and parameter setting
1. Calibration process
Using a standard leak source for calibration is a crucial step in ensuring measurement accuracy. Select the appropriate calibration curve type based on different detection techniques, such as differential pressure method, flow meter method, etc. Regularly calibrate and verify to ensure that the instrument is always in good working condition. Record the time and results of each calibration for easy tracking and management in the future.
2. Parameter settings
Adjust various parameters of the instrument, such as test pressure, test time, sensitivity, etc., based on the characteristics of the pipeline system and expected analysis objectives. The selection of these parameters directly affects the accuracy and efficiency of air leakage detection. Optimize parameter combinations using built-in software to improve detection sensitivity and resolution.
3、 Implement air leakage testing
1. Pressure test
Connect the intake pipe to the appropriate location of the air conditioning duct system, usually at the entrance of the main or branch duct. Inject compressed air into the pipeline through instruments and gradually increase the pressure to the set value (usually 100 Pa or higher). Monitor the pressure gauge reading to ensure that the system pressure remains stable within the set range. If the pressure drops rapidly, it indicates the presence of a significant air leakage point and requires further investigation.
2. Location of air leakage points
Use the equipped handheld probe or smoke generator to gradually move along the surface of the pipeline, searching for possible air leakage points. When the probe approaches the air leakage point, the instrument will sound an alarm or display a numerical change. For areas that are difficult to directly access, mirrors or fiber optic probes can be used for observation to ensure coverage of every potential air leakage location.
4、 Data analysis and repair
1. Data interpretation
After the test is completed, use the supporting software to automatically record and analyze the test data. Carefully verify the data, eliminate outliers, and perform statistical analysis on the results. If it is found that the pressure drop in certain areas is significantly higher than in other parts, it indicates that there may be air leakage problems in these areas, which need to be inspected and repaired with emphasis.
2. Repair measures
Take appropriate repair measures for the discovered air leakage points, such as resealing the joints, replacing damaged seals, or repairing damaged pipeline materials. After the repair is completed, conduct another air leakage test to ensure that the problem is resolved.
