Sanitary shear pump is a commonly used equipment for fluid treatment in the fields of food, pharmaceuticals, etc. Its core feature is to balance shear function and hygiene standards. The following will explain it from two dimensions: structural design and working principle, and supplement typical application scenarios.
1、 Core structural design: adapted to hygiene and cutting needs
The structural design of sanitary grade shear pumps revolves around two fundamental goals: cleanliness and shear efficiency
• Contact material: The pump body, impeller and other components that come into contact with the material are generally made of 316L stainless steel, with a polished surface that meets hygiene industry standards for roughness, reducing the possibility of material residue and microbial adhesion;
Sealing system: using mechanical seals without dead corners or sanitary grade gasket seals to avoid the problem of gap accumulation in traditional sealing structures, while adapting to high-pressure and high-temperature environments of CIP (online cleaning) processes;
Shear component: The gap between the impeller and the inner wall of the pump chamber is precisely adapted, and the impeller often adopts a multi blade structure. At the same time, the pump chamber is equipped with a shear tooth group to provide auxiliary effect for material dispersion.
• Connection method: The various components of the pump body are connected using quick release clamps, which are easy to disassemble and clean and comply with hygiene management standards in the food and pharmaceutical fields.

2、 Working principle: The transportation and cutting of materials are completed synchronously
The working process of a sanitary grade shear pump integrates fluid transport and shear dispersion functions into the same process: when the pump is started, the impeller rotates at high speed, creating negative pressure at the inlet of the pump chamber, and the material is sucked into the pump chamber; The material entering the pump chamber moves in a circular motion with the impeller blades, while also moving towards the outlet direction of the pump chamber under the action of centrifugal force; During this process, the material will pass through the gap between the impeller blades and the inner wall of the pump chamber, as well as the shear teeth group - the high-speed rotating blades and the fixed structure form relative motion. The material is subjected to the combined effects of shear force, impact force, and turbulence force, achieving particle crushing, liquid-liquid emulsification, or solid-liquid dispersion; Finally, the processed material is transported to the subsequent process by fluid power, completing the integrated operation of "conveying+shearing".
