Common sterilization methods in biological cleanrooms
Date: 2025-04-10Read: 9

The commonly used sterilization methods in biological cleanrooms mainly include the following two types, and based on actual needs and auxiliary measures, the Botai editor will take you to understand the relevant knowledge.

1、 Core sterilization method

1. Gas sterilization

The use of gases such as ethylene oxide and formaldehyde for fumigation has strong penetration and can cover instruments and complex structural areas, making it a chemical sterilization method.

2. UV sterilization

Sterilization is achieved by destroying the DNA/RNA structure of microorganisms through ultraviolet radiation, which is easy and economical to operate and suitable for space sterilization. But there are blind spots and limitations on penetration, and other methods need to be used in conjunction.

2、 Auxiliary or specific scenario sterilization methods

1. High temperature sterilization

Dry heat sterilization or wet heat sterilization is suitable for high-temperature resistant items.

2. Ozone sterilization

It is commonly used for air disinfection by destroying the structure of microbial cells through strong oxidation.

3. Chemical fumigation

Like hydrogen peroxide fumigation, as a supplementary method to deal with blind spots that cannot be covered by ultraviolet radiation.

3、 Precautions

1. Usage requirements

UV sterilization cannot completely replace chemical disinfection and should be used in combination with other methods in accordance with WHO standards.

2. Sterilization method

The selection of sterilization method should be based on the laboratory material tolerance, sterilization object characteristics, and operational safety.
