Pasteurization method

Pasteurization is a low-temperature heat treatment method applied to water system disinfection, mainly targeting pathogenic microorganisms and other bacteria. Using the sensitivity of pathogenic bacteria to heat, killing microorganisms through appropriate temperature and insulation time. In order to consider high temperature conditions, the pure water system for pasteurization needs to be installed using stainless steel material.

Within a specific temperature range, the growth rate of bacteria is affected by temperature. The lower the temperature, the slower the bacterial growth; The higher the temperature, the faster the reproduction. However, if the temperature is too high, it can lead to bacterial death. Pasteurization fully utilizes the pathogen's intolerance to high temperatures by treating it with appropriate temperature and holding time to eliminate its reproduction. In water systems, a temperature of 65 ° C to 80 ° C is typically used for a certain period of time to maintain pure water and achieve disinfection effects.

After pasteurization, some harmless or beneficial bacteria or bacterial spores that are relatively heat-resistant will still be left behind, so pasteurization is not a sterile process.

The pasteurization in purified water equipment has two important functions.

1. For pre-treatment units such as activated carbon used in water purification equipment, RO/EDI units, and storage distribution pipeline units, regular disinfection treatment is required.

2. Maintain the growth of microorganisms during the normal operation of the injection water system.

Ozone disinfection method

Ozone is a spectral disinfectant that can destroy the membrane structure and internal substances of microorganisms through oxidation, leading to cell lysis and death, thereby achieving disinfection effects. When the concentration of ozone reaches 0.15 milligrams per liter, it has already exceeded the critical point of human smell, and this concentration is called the hygiene standard point; When the concentration of ozone reaches 1-10 milligrams per liter, it belongs to the stimulation range; When the concentration exceeds 10 milligrams per liter, it can cause poisoning.

Ozone has a very short half-life, only 30-60 minutes. When applied, on-site generation is required. The concentration of ozone produced using air is 10-20 milligrams per liter, while the concentration of ozone produced using oxygen is 20-40 milligrams per liter. Another method of producing ozone is electrolysis of water, which involves electrolyzing water into oxygen atoms and then converting the free oxygen in it into ozone.

Ozone undergoes oxidation-reduction reactions in water, releasing single atom oxygen (O) and hydroxyl (OH) groups with oxidizing ability, which can rapidly decompose organic matter, bacteria, and microorganisms in water. By adding ozone to the pure water system and dissolving it in water, we can utilize the oxidation effect of ozone to continuously disinfect the water in storage tanks and pipeline systems.

UV disinfection method

Introduction to UV disinfection: UV disinfection is a physical disinfection method with broad-spectrum bactericidal ability and will not cause secondary pollution. By using specially designed high-efficiency, high-intensity, and long-life UVC band ultraviolet light to irradiate water flow, various bacteria, viruses, parasites, algae, and other pathogens in the water can be directly eliminated, achieving the effect of disinfection.

UV disinfection does not add any substances to water and has no negative effects, making it superior to chemical disinfection methods such as chlorination. Currently, the artificial mercury (alloy) light source is capable of providing sufficient UVC intensity for water system disinfection.

The lamp tube of the ultraviolet disinfection lamp is made of quartz glass. The mercury lamp can be divided into three types: low pressure and low intensity, medium pressure and high intensity, and low pressure and high intensity according to the mercury vapor pressure and ultraviolet output intensity inside the lamp tube after lighting. The disinfection effect depends on the amount of radiation received by microorganisms, as well as the energy output of ultraviolet radiation, the type of lamp, light intensity, and usage time. As the lamp tube ages, the light intensity may decrease by 30% to 50%.
