The structural characteristics, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions of a rotary evaporator are described. A rotary evaporator is a device for rapid concentration of liquid samples. The sample is heated, depressurized, and continuously rotated in a spherical glass container to increase the evaporation surface area and accelerate the evaporation rate. A widely used evaporation instrument in laboratories. Suitable for reflux operations, rapid evaporation of large amounts of solvents, concentration of trace components, and reaction processes that require stirring. Mainly used for concentration, crystallization, drying, separation, and solvent recovery in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and biopharmaceutical industries. The principle is to heat at a constant temperature under vacuum conditions, causing the rotating bottle to rotate at a constant speed. The material forms a large film on the bottle wall and evaporates. The solvent vapor is cooled by a glass condenser and recovered in a collection bottle.

Structural characteristics of rotary evaporator:

Maintenance instructions for rotary evaporator:

1. Before use, carefully check the instrument and glass bottle for any damage, ensure that all interfaces match, and handle with care.

2. Wipe each joint with a soft cloth (can be replaced with a napkin), and then apply a small amount of vacuum grease. After using vacuum grease, be sure to cover it properly to reduce the entry of dust and sand.

3. Each interface should not be tightened too tightly, and should be loosened and activated regularly to reduce the risk of connector jamming caused by long-term locking.

4. First turn on the power switch, then let the machine run from slow to fast. When stopping, make sure the machine is in a stopped state before turning off the switch.

5. The PTFE switches everywhere should not be tightened too tightly, as it may damage the glass.

6. After each use, it is necessary to use a soft cloth to wipe off all kinds of oil stains, dirt, and solvent residues left on the surface of the machine and keep it clean.

7. After stopping the machine, loosen the PTFE switches. Long term static operation will cause deformation of the PTFE piston.

8. Regularly clean the sealing ring by removing it, checking for dirt on the shaft, wiping it clean with a soft cloth, applying a small amount of vacuum grease, and reinstalling it to keep the shaft and sealing ring smooth.

9. The electrical part must not be exposed to water and must not be affected by moisture.

Attention should be paid to the following points when operating a rotary evaporator:

1. Insert the pole supporting the glass condenser and tighten the two stainless steel screws to secure it.

2. Insert the evaporator tube into the shaft of the gearbox and tighten the pressure cap. Install parallel rings, O-rings, and T-rings.

3. Install the glass four-way, position the four-way interface with the T-shaped ring appropriately, and tighten the large screw ring, but be careful not to tighten it too tightly, otherwise it will shorten the service life of the O-ring.

4. Installation of the condenser bottle: Apply vacuum grease evenly on the interface of the condenser bottle, insert it into the No. 40 grinding port of the four-way valve, and then tighten the fixing screw on the strap block. By adjusting the position of the screw and the long hole of the strap, the position and angle of the glass four-way valve and the sealing ring can be changed to achieve the best vacuum state.

5. Install the receiving bottle and evaporator bottle, evenly apply vacuum grease to the grinding area, and then clamp them with a clamp.

6. Add an appropriate amount of water to the water bath, turn on the power, set the heating temperature, and the heating indicator light will turn on, then it can be used normally.

7. The lifting height and movement distance position of the rotator should be adjusted to place the evaporator bottle in the appropriate water bath. 8. Explanation of the locking mark: Turn the handle to the left, release the locking device, and adjust it to the appropriate height before turning it to the right.
