Precautions for the use of experimental rotary sterilization cabinets
Date: 2025-12-27Read: 4
The experimental rotary sterilization cabinet is a key equipment used in laboratories for efficient sterilization of experimental instruments, culture media, etc. It ensures uniform distribution of sterilization medium and improves sterilization efficiency through a rotating design. Proper operation and maintenance of the equipment are crucial for ensuring experimental safety and avoiding cross contamination. The following are the key points to note during use:
1、 Preparation before use
Equipment inspection and cleaning: Before starting, it is necessary to confirm that the power connection is normal, the sealing ring of the cabinet door is intact, and key instruments such as pressure gauges and thermometers are within their valid calibration period. Clean the residue inside and outside the cabinet to avoid blocking the exhaust holes or pipes. Wipe the inner wall with 70% alcohol for disinfection before use, and then remove residual chlorine with sterile water to reduce the risk of cross contamination.
Material preparation and placement: evenly pack the items to be sterilized into dedicated containers, avoiding overfilling or tightness, and leaving space to ensure steam penetration. Maintain appropriate gaps between items and place them on the rotating rack inside the cabinet to ensure smooth airflow circulation and prevent the formation of sterilization blind spots.
Personal protective equipment: Operators are required to wear pure cotton work clothes, latex gloves, goggles, masks, and hats. Gloves should be worn over isolation gowns to protect themselves from high temperatures or chemical substances.
2、 Precautions during operation
Parameter setting and startup: Set the sterilization temperature and time based on the characteristics of the item (such as material and loading capacity), and recommend around 121 ° C for common experimental items. After starting, it first enters the preheating and exhaust stage to discharge cold air. When the steam is evenly sprayed out, it indicates that the cold air has been exhausted, and then it enters the pressure boosting and heating stage.
Operation standard: After starting the rotation, avoid frequent opening and closing of cabinet doors or moving objects to prevent airflow disorder. During operation, move gently to reduce arm penetration through the air curtain and maintain stability in the workspace. It is strictly prohibited to use open flames (such as alcohol lamps) to avoid interfering with airflow or damaging filters. It is recommended to use an infrared sterilizer instead.
Security monitoring: Observe the operation status of the equipment throughout the process. In case of any abnormalities (such as pressure fluctuations or alarm prompts), immediately stop the program and investigate the cause. Ensure that the cabinet door is fully closed to prevent burns caused by high-temperature steam leakage.
3、 Handling and maintenance after use
Sterilization completion process: After the program is completed, wait for the temperature inside the cabinet to naturally cool to a safe range before opening the door. Wear insulated gloves when removing items, and transfer sterilized utensils to a clean area for cooling. Keep the fan running for 10-15 minutes to ensure that the internal gas is fully purified.
Cleaning and Disinfection: Thoroughly wipe the inner wall, rotating frame, and sealing ring with 75% alcohol or specialized disinfectant to remove any residue. Regularly check the integrity of the filter. If there is a lifespan warning or abnormal airflow, it should be replaced in a timely manner and tested by professional personnel.
Daily maintenance: Clean the external surface weekly and inspect the heating elements and control system monthly. Perform comprehensive maintenance every three months, including replacing damaged parts and verifying equipment performance, to ensure long-term stable operation.
4、 Other key precautions
Avoid overload: The loading capacity should not exceed the capacity limit of the cabinet. Overloading can cause poor steam circulation and affect the sterilization effect.
Environmental adaptation: The equipment should be placed in a well ventilated location away from doors and windows to reduce interference with airflow patterns caused by human movement.
Emergency handling: In case of leakage or malfunction, immediately cut off the power and evacuate personnel, contact professional engineers for repair, and prohibit self disassembly.
By strictly adhering to the above precautions, the safety and efficiency of experimental rotary sterilization cabinets can be significantly improved, providing reliable guarantees for laboratory work.
