The process principle of reverse osmosis deionized water purification equipment is to remove ions and impurities in water through physical separation technology, and its core includes the following steps:
1、 Core principles of reverse osmosis
1. Osmotic pressure reversal: Applying an external force (usually pump pressure) higher than the natural osmotic pressure on the concentrated solution side, forcing water molecules to cross the semi permeable membrane against the concentration gradient, while impurities such as dissolved salts, organic matter, and microorganisms are trapped in the concentrated solution.
2. Semi permeable membrane function: Using an RO membrane with a pore size of about 0.1 nanometers, only water molecules are allowed to pass through, effectively intercepting 97% -98% of ions, colloids, bacteria and other pollutants.
2、 Process flow
1. Preprocessing
Multi stage filtration: The raw water is sequentially filtered through a quartz sand filter (to intercept suspended solids), an activated carbon filter (to adsorb residual chlorine and organic matter), and a security filter (to intercept small particles) to ensure that the incoming water meets the requirements of the RO membrane.
Purpose: To prevent membrane fouling and extend membrane lifespan.
2. Reverse osmosis unit
The high-pressure pump pressurizes the pre treated water to 15-50 bar (depending on the water quality) and sends it into the RO membrane module.
Water is divided into two paths:
Pure water (permeate): passes through the membrane and enters the central tube for collection;
Concentrated water: carries intercepted impurities and is discharged.
Single/dual stage design: Dual stage reverse osmosis purifies the first stage pure water again, improving the water quality to a higher purity.
3. Post processing (optional)
When higher requirements are placed on water quality, add electrodeionization (EDI) or mixed bed ion exchange to deeply remove residual ions.
3、 Technical advantages
1. No chemical regeneration: No need for acid-base regeneration resin, reducing pollution and operating costs;
2. Efficient impurity removal: remove the majority of ions, organic matter, and microorganisms at once;
3. Self cleaning design: Parallel water flow washes the surface of the membrane to reduce concentration polarization.
This process achieves efficient purification through physical separation and is suitable for the high-purity water needs of industries such as pharmaceuticals and electronics.
