Precautions for using PP strong acid and strong alkali medicine cabinet
Date: 2025-10-14Read: 5
PP strong acid and strong alkali medicine cabinets are important equipment for storing related chemicals in laboratories and chemical workshops due to their resistance to acid and alkali corrosion. To ensure storage security and extend the lifespan of the cabinet, it is necessary to follow standardized usage methods. Specific precautions are as follows.
1、 Drug storage: scientific classification to avoid risks
1. Classified storage, strictly prohibited mixing
According to the nature of the drugs, they should be stored separately. Strong acids and strong alkalis should be placed in different cabinets or in separate compartments within the same cabinet to prevent leakage and mixing, which may cause safety accidents. Volatile acids and bases need to be sealed separately to avoid gas interactions or corrosion of the cabinet.
2. Control storage capacity and height
The storage capacity of drugs should not be too large, and more than 1/3 of the cabinet space should be reserved for air circulation; Store at a height 5cm below the edge of the partition to prevent tipping and spillage. Heavy drugs should be placed on the lower layer of the cabinet, and the weight of each layer should not exceed the load-bearing limit of the partition.
3. Standardize packaging and labeling
The drug is stored in a sealed container with acid and alkali resistance, without any damage or leakage. Clearly label the container with the name, concentration, storage date, and hazardous properties; Expired or spoiled drugs should be promptly cleaned and not kept in the cabinet.
2、 Daily operation: meticulous and standardized, reducing losses
1. The switch cabinet door should be gentle and slow
The switch cabinet door should be operated slowly to prevent the hinge from loosening or the medicine from tipping over. After closing, check the seal to ensure that the sealing strip fits snugly; If the sealing strip ages and deforms, replace it in a timely manner.
2. Avoid the cabinet from being impacted by external forces
The cabinet should be kept away from the passage and equipment operation area to prevent deformation and damage to the partition caused by collision. When cleaning or retrieving medication, do not use sharp tools to scrape the cabinet to avoid damaging the anti-corrosion layer.
3. Control the temperature and humidity of the environment
Place the cabinet in a ventilated and dry place, avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources to prevent aging and deformation of the PP material. The environmental humidity should be controlled below 60%, and desiccants can be placed inside the cabinet when the humidity is high.
3、 Maintenance and upkeep: Regular inspections to extend lifespan
1. Regularly clean the cabinet
Clean the cabinet with neutral detergent and soft cloth every week, without using strong acid or alkali cleaners or steel wire balls. When cleaning the interior, first remove the medicine, wipe it off, and then put it back. At the same time, check whether the partition is deformed or cracked, and replace it in a timely manner if there are any problems.
2. Check the accessories and structure
Check the cabinet door hinges, handles, locks and other accessories for looseness every month, and tighten them in a timely manner; Check the stability of the partition support and prevent the partition from falling off. Cabinet with ventilation system, regularly clean the ventilation filter to ensure ventilation effect.
4、 Security protection: prepare contingency plans and respond to emergencies
1. Equip with emergency supplies
Place acid and alkali resistant gloves, goggles, eye wash stations, and neutralizing agents near the cabinet. Operators must wear protective equipment when taking and placing drugs.
2. Dealing with leakage accidents
In case of drug leakage, stop immediately, wear protective equipment, absorb the drug solution with absorbent cotton, treat the residue with neutralizing agent, and then clean the cabinet. If there is a large leakage or personnel are injured, immediately activate the contingency plan, contact professionals, and take them to the hospital.
Standardizing the use of PP strong acid and alkali medicine cabinets can not only ensure the safety of chemical storage, but also extend the service life of equipment. Operators need to strictly follow the precautions, develop good habits, and provide guarantees for the safe operation of laboratories and workshops.
