Thermo Fisher ion chromatograph is an instrument used for analyzing ions
Date: 2025-12-17Read: 2
The Thermo Fisher ion chromatograph is equipped with an efficient and rapid separation column, which can complete the separation and detection of multiple ions in a short period of time. When using an efficient and rapid separation column, the baseline separation of the above anions can even be completed within 3 minutes, improving detection efficiency. The use of conductivity detectors or amperometric detectors has a relatively low detection limit for trace ions, reaching ppb levels, and can accurately detect extremely low concentrations of ions. In addition, the direct injection volume is about 25 μ L, and the detection limit for common anions is less than 10 μ g/L, ensuring the accuracy of the detection results.
Ion chromatography can achieve high selectivity analysis of inorganic and organic anions and cations by selecting appropriate separation methods, separation columns, and monitoring methods. Compared with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), the effect of fixed relative selectivity in ion chromatography is greater, making it more advantageous in specific ion analysis. One of the main advantages of ion chromatography compared to traditional photometry and atomic absorption spectroscopy is its ability to simultaneously detect multiple components in a sample. It only takes a short time to obtain all the information about anions, cations, and sample composition, greatly improving analysis efficiency.
Ionic chromatography column packing has high pH stability, allowing the use of strong acids or bases as eluents, which is beneficial for expanding the application range. At the same time, its high capacity also ensures good separation performance for a long time. Ion chromatography has become an indispensable tool in modern laboratories due to its efficient separation ability, excellent selectivity, and wide applicability. In the future, with the advancement of materials science and the development of new technologies, it is expected that more breakthrough progress will be made in this field.
The determination steps of Thermo Fisher ion chromatograph:
-Preparation of samples: Process the ion sample to be tested into a solution and ensure that its concentration is within the detectable range of the instrument. For unknown samples, it may be necessary to dilute them 100-1000 times before injection to avoid contaminating the system.
-Power on preheating: Open the ion chromatograph and related software, call the corresponding method (such as anion/cation analysis), start the hardware for preheating, usually taking 30-60 minutes until baseline equilibrium.
-Set parameters: Based on the properties of the sample and analysis requirements, set appropriate parameters such as flow rate and pressure.
-Injection analysis: Inject the prepared sample into the injection device, adjust the injection volume, and start the analysis.
-Data processing: After the analysis is completed, save the data and perform necessary post-processing, such as drawing calibration curves, quantitative calculations, etc.
