CIP cleaning principle

CIP stands forClean In Place refers to a method of circulating cleaning and disinfection using cleaning solution in a closed equipment system without disassembling or moving the equipment. It automatically completes a series of operations such as preparation, transportation, circulation, and discharge of cleaning solution through a preset program, realizing the cleaning of internal pipelines, containers, pumps, valves, and other components of the equipment without the need for manual operation inside the equipment, greatly improving cleaning efficiency and safety.

The CIP cleaning system mainly consists of a cleaning solution storage tank, a transfer pump, a heater, a filter, a control panel, as well as pipelines and valves connecting the equipment. The working process usually includes the following steps:

  1. preprocessingFirstly, rinse the interior of the equipment with clean water to remove a large amount of impurities and pollutants remaining on the surface of the equipment, in preparation for subsequent cleaning work. This step can reduce the amount of cleaning agent used and improve the cleaning effect.

  1. Main cleaningSelect appropriate cleaning agents (such as acids, alkalis, surfactants, etc.) based on the type and degree of equipment contamination, and prepare them into a certain concentration of cleaning solution. The cleaning solution is transported to the interior of the equipment through a delivery pump, and under a certain temperature and pressure, the cleaning solution circulates inside the equipment. Cleaning agents react chemically or physically with pollutants, dissolving, emulsifying, or peeling off the pollutants on the surface of equipment.

  1. rinseAfter the main cleaning is completed, rinse the inside of the equipment again with clean water to remove any residual cleaning agents and pollutants from the surface of the equipment. The purpose of rinsing is to ensure that there is no residual cleaning agent inside the equipment, avoiding contamination of the products produced later.

  2. Disinfection (optional)For industries with high hygiene requirements, such as pharmaceuticals and dairy products, disinfection treatment is also required after rinsing. The commonly used disinfection methods include thermal disinfection (such as using high-temperature hot water circulation), chemical disinfection (such as using disinfectants), etc. The purpose of disinfection is to kill any microorganisms that may exist inside the equipment, ensuring that the equipment meets production hygiene requirements.

  3. Final rinseAfter disinfection is completed, rinse the surface of the equipment with clean water to remove any residual disinfectant and ensure that the interior of the equipment is clean and sterile.
