GB2894-2025 "Safety Colors and Safety Signs" was released on May 30th this year and will be implemented on March 1st next year. Is your laboratory ready? Let me introduce to you how this revised specification differs from previous specifications?
What standards does this standard integrate?
GB2894-2025 "Safety Colors and Safety Signs" replaces GB 2893-2008 "Safety Colors", GB 2894-2008 "Safety Signs and Guidelines for their Use", and GB 7231-2003 "Basic Identification Colors, Identification Symbols, and Safety Signs for Industrial Pipelines"; Mainly based on GB 2894-2008, it integrates the content of GB 2893-2008 and GB 7231-2003.
2. What changes have been made to this standard
Compared with GB2893-2008, GB 2894-2008, and GB 7231-2003, GB2894-2025 "Safety Colors and Safety Signs" mainly includes the following changes, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes:

(1) Changed the scope of application of the document, the basic type diagram of the logo, and the requirements for the use rules of textual auxiliary logos;
(2) Changed the arrangement of "requirements for safety signs", "selection of safety sign models", "height of sign installation", "requirements for the use of safety signs" and "inspection and maintenance", as well as the requirements for replacing or taking corresponding measures for safety signs;

(3) 34 graphic signs have been changed: "Beware of Corrosion", "Beware of Poisoning", "Beware of Biological Hazards", "Beware of Falling Objects", "Beware of Hanging Objects", "Beware of Squeezing", Must wear a safety helmet, must wear a seat belt, must wear a life jacket, must wear protective clothing, must wear protective gloves 'Protective shoes must be worn', 'must be locked', 'emergency shelter', 'shatter board surface';
(4) Changed the Chinese names of 9 signs: "Beware of biological hazards", "Beware of non ionizing radiation", "Beware of forklifts and other on-site motor vehicles", "Beware of tripping", "No blocking", "No carrying checked weapons and simulated weapons", "Must wear blackout goggles", "Must wear masks", "Safe exit";

(5) The English names of 38 signs have been changed: "Beware of Explosion", "Beware of Corrosion", "Beware of Poisoning", "Beware of Biological Hazards", "Beware of Electric Shock", Hats must be worn, seat belts must be fastened, life jackets must be worn, protective clothing must be worn, and protective gloves must be worn Must wear protective shoes, must wash hands, must be locked, must be grounded, must be unplugged, safety exits, emergency shelters.
(6) The normative appendix for laser radiation warning signs, as well as the requirements for "laser radiation window signs and instruction signs" and the graphic sign "Do not wear synthetic clothing", have been removed.
Annotation: The above changes (especially the coloring content) are also related to the laboratory. Laboratory users should read this specification during this period to understand it, so that after the implementation of the specification, they can replace the safety signs in the laboratory that do not comply with the specifications according to the new requirements.
What new content has been added to this standard
Compared with GB2893-2008, GB 2894-2008, and GB 7231-2003, GB2894-2025 "Safety Colors and Safety Signs" mainly adds the following content, except for structural adjustments and editorial changes:
(1) Added requirements for color representation;
(2) Added requirements for the use of safety signs in places with poor lighting conditions;

(3) 37 graphic signs have been added: "Beware of entanglement", "Beware of battery charging", "Beware of oxides", "Beware of high-pressure gas cylinders", "Beware of workpiece movement", "Beware of wire mesh", "Beware of remote control machinery", Static shoes "" must hold the handrail "" must check the protective device " Static electricity must be eliminated, ventilation must be provided, user manuals must be read, isolated respirators must be used, gas cylinders must be fixed, emergency assembly points, eye wash stations, and safety shower facilities must be used;
(4) Added requirements for the basic identification colors and symbols of industrial pipelines.

Summary: There are safety risks in the laboratory, and correct safety colors and signs can remind users to pay attention to safety. Therefore, the design, production, and setting of laboratory safety signs should meet the requirements of this standard, so that the safety signs in the laboratory can truly convey safety information to laboratory personnel.
