Operation process and key steps of laboratory freeze dryer
Date: 2024-01-23Read: 5
A laboratory freeze dryer is a device used for freeze-drying biological samples by freezing them at low temperatures and removing moisture under vacuum conditions to maintain sample stability and shelf life. Below, we will introduce the operation process and key steps of the laboratory freeze dryer.
1、 Preparation work:
Before operating the laboratory freeze dryer, the following preparations need to be made:
1. Sample preparation:
Prepare the biological samples to be processed and label and classify them as required. Ensure that the quantity of samples and the type of container meet the capacity and requirements of the freeze dryer.
2. Freeze dryer cleaning:
Confirm that the internal surface of the laboratory freeze dryer is clean and perform necessary disinfection and cleaning work. This helps prevent pollution and cross infection.
3. Pre freeze dryer:
Turn on the power of the freeze-drying machine and pre cool it to the desired temperature according to the instructions in the user manual.
In general, the low temperature range of a freeze dryer is -50 ° C to -80 ° C.
2、 Sample processing:
While pre cooling in the laboratory freeze dryer, perform the following sample processing steps:
1. Sample loading:
Fill the prepared biological samples into the tray or bottle of the freeze dryer according to the predetermined container and capacity specifications. Ensure uniform distribution of samples and avoid stacking too high or too low.
2. Tighten the container:
Ensure that the container lid or cover for loading samples is tightly sealed to prevent external air from entering the sample container.
3. Tray placement:
Carefully place the tray or bottle containing the sample into the pre cooled freeze dryer. Be careful to avoid collisions and vibrations to prevent damage to the sample.
3、 Freeze drying operation:
After the sample is ready and placed in the freeze dryer, perform the following steps:
1. Start the condenser:
Start the condenser of the freeze dryer and ensure its normal operation. The condenser can help remove moisture from the sample and convert it into steam.
2. Start the freeze-drying process:
Set freeze-drying parameters such as temperature, pressure, and time based on the nature and requirements of the sample. These parameters will affect the effectiveness and time of the freeze-drying process.
3. Monitoring process:
During the freeze-drying process, closely monitor the operating status of the freeze-drying machine to ensure the stability of temperature, pressure, and vacuum level. Adjustments can be made as needed.
4. Freeze drying completed
When the set freeze-drying time is reached or the sample has been completely freeze-dried, stop the operation of the condenser and turn off the power of the freeze-drying machine. At this point, the processed sample can be taken out.
4、 Closing work:
After completing the laboratory freeze dryer operation, perform the following finishing work:
1. Cleaning and disinfection:
Clean and disinfect used trays, bottles, and other tools. Ensure that the environment around the freeze dryer is clean and hygienic.
2. Recording and Storage:
According to the laboratory's requirements, record the freeze-dried sample information, including sample type, quantity, freeze-drying parameters, etc. Store the freeze-dried samples properly to ensure their safety and clear labeling.
