Process principle of high borosilicate double-layer glass reactor
Date: 2025-12-11Read: 1
In the fields of precision processes such as chemical synthesis, biopharmaceuticals, and new material research and development, high borosilicate double-layer glass reaction vessels have become the core equipment for achieving efficient and safe reactions due to their special structural design. The process principle integrates materials science, thermodynamic control, and fluid dynamics, providing an ideal solution for modern laboratories and industrial production.
1、 Core structural design: synergistic effect of double-layer jacket and high borosilicate glass
The core of the high borosilicate double-layer glass reactor lies in its double-layer jacket structure, which consists of an inner reaction vessel and an outer jacket, forming a closed space between the two. The inner layer is made of high borosilicate glass (such as GG17 material), which has excellent corrosion resistance and chemical stability, and can withstand strong acid and alkali environments. At the same time, its transparency allows operators to visually observe key phenomena such as color changes and phase transitions of reactants. The outer jacket serves as a temperature control channel, injecting a constant temperature medium (such as high-temperature hot oil, low-temperature freezing liquid, or circulating water) to achieve precise temperature control of the materials inside the reaction vessel. This design not only isolates external environmental interference, but also avoids local overheating or uneven cooling problems through uniform heat conduction.
2、 Temperature control mechanism: precise control over a wide temperature range
Temperature control is the core of the reactor process. Through the sandwich cycle system, the equipment can achieve wide temperature range regulation from -80 ℃ to 300 ℃, meeting diverse needs from low-temperature crystallization to high-temperature polymerization. For example, in low-temperature reactions, injecting cryogenic solution into the interlayer can accurately maintain the reaction environment and prevent the decomposition of thermosensitive components; Under high temperature conditions, circulating heat transfer oil can quickly increase the temperature and accelerate the reaction rate. This mechanism is particularly suitable for enzyme catalyzed reactions in biopharmaceuticals, as it stabilizes the temperature field to ensure enzyme activity and improve product yield. In addition, the sandwich insulation design reduces energy consumption and significantly improves economic efficiency in industrial production.
3、 Mixing and Vacuum Systems: Optimizing Reaction Efficiency and Safety
The reaction vessel is equipped with a variable frequency speed regulation stirring device, driven by an AC induction motor, with a speed range covering 50-1200rpm. Stirring impellers are usually made of stainless steel coated with tetrafluoroethylene to ensure efficient mixing while avoiding metal contamination and preventing local accumulation or insufficient reaction of materials. The vacuum system supports negative pressure operation and achieves vacuum distillation or concentration through an exhaust device, which is suitable for the treatment of volatile materials. For example, in the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates, reduced pressure conditions can lower the boiling point, avoid high-temperature decomposition, and improve product purity. The sealing design adopts polytetrafluoroethylene material, effectively preventing leakage and enhancing operational safety.
4、 Application scenarios and process advantages
High borosilicate double-layer glass reaction vessels are widely used in fine chemical plants, biopharmaceuticals, and new material synthesis fields. In the laboratory, it supports small-scale pilot experiments such as organic chemistry reflux reactions or crystal growth studies; In industrial production, it is used for catalytic hydrogenation, polymerization reactions, etc., to improve product quality consistency through precise temperature control. Its technological advantages include high transparency for process monitoring, corrosion resistance to extend equipment life, and multifunctional interfaces (such as reflux condenser, constant pressure drip funnel) to support complex operations. Compared to single-layer reaction vessels, the double-layer design significantly improves temperature uniformity and response speed, making it a modern precision process equipment.
5、 Operating standards and maintenance points
To ensure process stability, strict standards must be followed during operation. Before use, the integrity of glassware, interface sealing, and electrical system insulation should be checked; Monitor the concentricity, vacuum stability, and medium circulation status of the mixing shaft during operation; Confirm valve closure and equipment cleaning after shutdown. In terms of maintenance, it is necessary to regularly clean the inner walls to prevent residue accumulation, check the aging of seals, and avoid faults such as sudden drops in vacuum degree. By standardizing operations, equipment performance can be maximized, ensuring long-term reliable operation.
