In short, a freeze dryer is a type of drying equipment. The full name of freeze-drying technology is vacuum freeze-drying technology. It is a modern new drying technology. It is a combination of vacuum technology, refrigeration technology, and drying technology. It is an interdisciplinary field involving heat, mass, and fluid transport. Proficient in mechanical, automatic control, food nutrition, biotechnology, materials, and other related fields.
Originating from freeze-drying technology in the 1920s, it has been widely used in food, blood products, biological products, pharmaceuticals, active substances, and other fields. Especially in the pharmaceutical industry, vacuum freeze dryers (referred to as freeze dryers) are widely used and have the following advantages:
1. Freeze drying is carried out at low temperatures, making it particularly suitable for many thermosensitive substances. Like proteins, microorganisms, etc., they remain unchanged or lose their biological activity.
2. During low-temperature drying, the loss of some volatile components in the substance is small, making it suitable for drying some chemical products, drugs, and food.
3. During the freeze-drying process, the growth of microorganisms and the action of enzymes cannot be carried out, and their original properties can be maintained.
4. Due to the fact that drying is carried out in a frozen state, the volume remains almost unchanged, maintaining the original structure without condensation.
5. The dried material is loose, porous, and sponge like. After adding water, it quickly dissolves and almost immediately restores its original performance.
Due to the fact that drying is carried out under vacuum, there is very little oxygen. Therefore, some easily oxidizable substances are protected.
7. Drying can remove more than 95-96% of moisture, allowing the product to be stored for a long time without deterioration after drying.
It is precisely because of the need for vacuum freeze-drying in products that freeze dryers have been rapidly and widely used in various production fields.
