What is medicineGMP?
Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) is the fundamental principle for drug production and quality management, applicable to the entire process of drug formulation production and key processes that affect the quality of finished products in the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
The World Health Organization began organizing the development of drug GMP in the mid-1960s and officially announced the GMP standards in November 1975. China began implementing it in the 1980s and promulgated its drug GMP in 1988, which underwent two revisions in 1992 and 1998. The "Good Manufacturing Practice for Drugs (Revised in 2010)" has been implemented since March 1, 2011.
The content stipulated by GMP is the most basic requirement that food and drug processing enterprises must meet.
Veterinary Drug GMP
The concept of pharmaceuticals includes veterinary drugs, and only a few countries such as China and Australia separate human drug GMP and veterinary drug GMP.
The GMP in China's veterinary medicine industry began to be implemented in the late 1980s. In 1989, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture issued the "Quality Management Standards for Veterinary Drug Production (Trial)", and in 1994, it issued the "Implementation Rules for the Quality Management Standards for Veterinary Drug Production (Trial)". Starting from October 1, 1995, pharmaceutical production enterprises (workshops) and drug varieties that meet the conditions can apply for drug GMP certification. Enterprises (workshops) that have obtained GMP certification for drugs will be given priority by the health administrative department when applying for the production of new drugs. As of June 30, 1998, enterprises (workshops) that have not obtained GMP certification for drugs will no longer be accepted for new drug production applications by the health administrative department.
