In Kaiyang County, Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, a silver ore beneficiation plant located among the mountains is undergoing sludge treatment at the end of the production process. A filter press equipment model XMZ100/1000 has been introduced here, specifically responsible for processing the tailings sludge generated during the silver ore beneficiation process.



The residual sludge from silver ore beneficiation has a unique composition, which may contain fine mineral powder particles and trace amounts of metal components. How to efficiently achieve sludge water separation, recover water as much as possible, and properly stabilize solid residues is an important aspect related to environmental protection and resource utilization efficiency. The task of this filter press is to convert these viscous sludge with poor fluidity into solid filter cake that is easy to transport and manage.
A pneumatic diaphragm pump is used to transport materials for the filter press. In environments such as mineral processing plants where complex working conditions may exist, pneumatic pumps are particularly suitable due to their inherent explosion-proof safety characteristics. It relies on compressed air drive to smoothly and continuously press silver mine sludge rich in solid particles into the filtering chamber inside the filter press.
When the sludge fills the enclosed space formed by the arrangement of filter plates under pressure, strong mechanical squeezing force begins to act. This pressure forces the water in the sludge to separate through a filter cloth with a specific porosity, while solid particles are effectively trapped and compressed inside the filter chamber. This process continues for a period of time until the material achieves the expected dehydration effect.
After one work cycle, the equipment is turned on and it can be observed that the well formed solid filter cake falls off from the surface of the filter cloth. The moisture content of these filter cakes significantly decreases, and the texture becomes relatively tight and firm. This change significantly reduces the volume of sludge, not only lowering the difficulty and cost of subsequent storage or compliant disposal, but also reducing the environmental risks that may arise from slurry leakage. At the same time, the separated filtrate appears relatively clear and can be guided to the reuse system, achieving the recycling of water resources and saving production water in the mining area.
The coordinated development of mining activities and ecological protection is a long-term issue in Kaiyang, a region rich in mineral resources. The application of pressure filtration technology for specific types of tailings treatment reflects the active response of enterprises to environmental protection requirements at the end of production. It provides a concrete and practical technical support for reducing the environmental footprint of mining production and maintaining the natural ecology of the local green mountains and waters through effective solid-liquid separation methods.
