In urban or industrial pollution measurement, the vast majority of electromagnetic flow meters are used. Electromagnetic flow meters have high accuracy and long service life, making them the preferred choice for environmental measurement professions. The correct selection of electromagnetic flowmeter is necessary to ensure its better application, based on the chemical properties of the fluid medium, the size of the pipeline diameter, the flow rate scale, the material information, the electrode information, and the output signal, etc.
Selection of fluid medium for electromagnetic flowmeter measurement
Through the principle of electromagnetic flowmeter, it is known that conductive liquids can be selected for electromagnetic flowmeter, and only when the conductivity is greater than 5 μ/cm, electromagnetic flowmeter can be selected. However, the limitation of electromagnetic flow meters is that they can only measure liquids and cannot measure gases, vapors, and so on.
Selection of electromagnetic flowmeter
Electromagnetic flow meters come in both integrated and split types. The integrated type is generally used in outstanding environmental conditions, while the integrated electromagnetic sensor and converter are integrated. Split type sensors and converters are separated, and are generally not suitable for local readings. For example, if the ambient temperature is too high, the pipeline vibrates greatly, there is corrosion in the on-site environment, the orientation of the flow meter device is at high altitude, and so on. In this situation, choose a split type electromagnetic converter with a 10m cable to connect the converter in a suitable environment.
Selection of Diameter for Electromagnetic Flow Meter Sensors
In general, considering the convenience of the device, do not choose reducers. But the condition is that the applicable flow rate inside the flowmeter tube should be within the range of 0.3m/S to 10m/S. This selection is often applicable to newly planned projects, where the selection of flow rate takes into account both the current working conditions and the future conditions when the equipment is operating at full capacity. But sometimes the diameter of the sensor is chosen to be different from the diameter of the connected process pipeline. As follows:
(1) The flow velocity inside the pipeline is low, and the process flow rate is relatively stable. In order to meet the requirements of the flow scale on the surface, the flow velocity is locally increased at the flowmeter, and the sensor diameter is selected to be smaller than the process pipeline diameter. A reducer is installed before and after the sensor.
(2) For large-diameter electromagnetic flow meters, the larger the diameter, the higher the price. For situations where the flow rate in the pipeline is low and the process parameters are stable, a smaller diameter flow meter can be selected. This not only allows the flow meter to operate in a better working state, but also reduces capital costs.
4、 Selection of electrode materials: 316L electrode, tantalum electrode, HC electrode, platinum electrode, etc.
Selection of grounding ring data for electromagnetic flowmeter
The grounding ring data can be the same as the electrode data, and generally, data with the same corrosion resistance as the pipeline data can be selected.
Selection of Fabric Materials for Electromagnetic Flowmeters
According to the condition of the medium, PO raw materials, rubber raw materials, polytetrafluoroethylene raw materials, polyurethane raw materials, and ceramic fabrics can be selected.
