The fully automatic composting degradation tester, according to the general method in Part 1 of GB/T 19277.1-2011, determines the final aerobic biodegradation ability of plastic materials under controlled composting conditions by automatically detecting the carbon dioxide released during the degradation process. Biodegradability performance is a key indicator for degrading materials to solve white pollution, and it is also a key control parameter for research and application promotion. This tester can be widely used in the degradation testing of synthetic polymer materials and products such as polylactic acid and polybutylene succinate, as well as natural materials and products such as starch, bamboo fiber, lignin, etc.

The biodegradation tester is used to degrade the test material under controlled composting conditions through microbial decomposition, and then measure the amount of carbon dioxide emitted. The software calculates the percentage of total organic carbon converted into carbon dioxide in the test material (i.e., the percentage of biological decomposition). The experimental materials and inoculum are mixed and placed in a composting reactor, which undergoes composting reaction within the temperature, humidity, and oxygen concentration specified by the decomposition system. During the aerobic biodegradation process of the experimental material, the detection system continuously monitors and collects data on the carbon dioxide/oxygen levels, and calculates the cumulative carbon dioxide levels through a software system. Finally, a chart of carbon dioxide conversion rate is output based on the experimental conditions/parameters.
