4. Calibration of measuring cylinder

4.1.Weigh the total mass of a dry measuring cylinder and a flat glass (scraper).

4.2.Fill the measuring cylinder with distilled water and carefully scrape off the distilled water at the top of the measuring cylinder with a scraper, ensuring that the scraper is tightly attached to the top of the measuring cylinder. After the glass scraper is in place, wipe off the excess distilled water and weigh its total mass.v=m.

5. measuring method

5.1.Preparation of sample: Place the sample to be tested in an oven and1100CDry at a certain temperature1Cool to room temperature before measurement.

5.2.Using one250mLFill the beaker with the sample to be tested. Close the discharge port of the funnel and place the measuring cylinder at the center of its outlet. Pour the sample into the funnel, open the discharge valve of the funnel to allow the abrasive to fall freely until it is completely drained, and avoid vibration during this process.

5.3.Use a straightedge to scrape off any excess samples on the measuring cylinder. When scraping, the straightedge should be approximately level with the upper surface of the measuring bucket450Scrape the corners perpendicular to each other four times. This process should prevent compaction of the sample in the measuring cylinder and avoid vibration. Then weigh the sample in the measuring bucket.

5.4.Calculate the packing density according to the following formula:Papm1/V

5.5.A sample should be repeatedly measured three times, and the arithmetic mean of the three measurement results should be taken as the bulk density value of the tested sample.

5.6.The error of repeated measurements by the same operator using the same instrument shall not exceed±0.02g/cm3.
