Instruction Manual for Rotary Steam Flow Meter

Rotor type steam flowmeter is a specialized instrument for measuring steam flow, which can accurately measure the cumulative flow of superheated steam and saturated steam. It mainly consists of three components: throttling fluid, damper, and indicator. It is widely used for measuring steam flow in various steam units such as petroleum, chemical, light industry, metallurgy, textile, food, medicine, etc.

Working principle of rotary steam flowmeter

When the measured steam flows through the main body of the flow rotor steam flowmeter, it is throttled by the orifice plate. Under the action of the pressure difference between the front and rear, a part of the steam enters the splitter nozzle through the nozzle, and then the jet formed pushes the upper end of the rotor shaft to rotate the wing wheel. The speed of the wing wheel is proportional to the mass flow rate of the measured steam flowing through the flowmeter. Through correction and division, the actual flow rate of accumulated steam is reflected by the indicator dial.

Characteristics of rotary steam flowmeter:

1. The flowmeter is a mechanical instrument that uses the measured steam as a power source and does not require an external power source.

2. The measurement range can reach 1:8 range, which brings convenience to users' selection.

3. Equipped with three specifications of orifice plates, with a wide flow range.

4. It can resist sudden steam flow exceeding 200% of the upper limit, and its measurement accuracy is not affected;

5. The rotary turbine steam flowmeter adopts segmented correction, so the measurement range is wide, and the correction factor can be set to three, divided into two flow segments for correction, so the accuracy is higher than the previous mechanical pointer type.

Installation diagram of rotary steam flowmeter:

1. The connection between the flowmeter and the pipeline is a flange connection. The flange specifications shall comply with GB4216.5-84 "Types of Flanges for Pipeline Accessories".

2. The flow meter must be installed on a horizontal straight pipe, and its indicator must be located below the pipeline. The length of the front and rear straight sections should not be less than the requirements indicated in the schematic diagram. In addition, steam must flow in the direction indicated by the arrow on the body shell.
