Common fermentation tanks are divided into solid fermentation tanks and liquid fermentation tanks. Fermentation tanks are divided into seed tanks (strain fermentation tanks) and fermentation tanks based on their volume and purpose. Fermentation tanks are divided into ventilated fermentation tanks and anaerobic fermentation tanks according to different aerobic types. Fermentation tanks, seed tanks, available in carbon steel, stainless steel, high nickel based alloys, etc., are mainly used for biochemical fermentation production. Industries such as the production of monosodium glutamate, citric acid, enzyme preparations, solvents, pharmaceuticals, and food.
1、 Basic conditions of fermentation tank
Mechanical stirring fermentation tank is one of the commonly used types in fermentation factories. It utilizes the function of a mechanical stirrer to thoroughly mix air and mash, promoting the dissolution of oxygen in the mash to ensure the supply of oxygen needed for microbial growth, reproduction, and fermentation. Basic requirements for using fermentation tanks:
1The fermentation tank should have a suitable aspect ratio. The ratio of height to diameter of a fermentation tank is generally1.7~4The longer the can body, the higher the utilization rate of oxygen.
2. Fermentation tanks can withstand a certain amount of pressure. Due to the pressure (air pressure and hydraulic pressure) and temperature inside the fermentation tank during disinfection and normal operation, each component of the tank must have a certain strength and be able to withstand a certain amount of pressure.
3. The stirring and ventilation device of the fermentation tank ensures sufficient mixing of gas and liquid, ensuring the necessary dissolved oxygen in the fermentation broth.
4. The fermentation tank should have sufficient cooling area. The microbial growth and metabolism process releases a large amount of heat, and in order to control the temperature required at different stages of the fermentation process, sufficient cooling area should be installed.
5. The fermentation tank should minimize dead corners as much as possible to avoid the accumulation of dirt and stains. Sterilization should be thorough to prevent bacterial contamination.
6. The shaft seal of the mixer should be tight to minimize leakage.
2、 Size ratio of fermentation tank body
The dimensions of each part of the tank have a certain proportion, and the ratio of the height to the diameter of the tank is generally around 1.7 to 4 times.
Fermentation tanks are usually equipped with two sets of agitators, with a spacing S of approximately three times the diameter of the agitators.
For large fermentation tanks and those with high liquid depth HL, three or more sets of agitators can be installed.
The bottom set of agitators is usually closer to the outlet of the air duct, and the distance C from the bottom of the tank is generally equal to the diameter of the agitatorDiHowever, it should not be less than0.8DiOtherwise, it will affect the circulation of the liquid.
3、 Structure of fermentation tank
The aerobic mechanical agitation fermentation tank is a sealed pressure equipment, with main components including the tank body, agitator, shaft seal, aerator, coupling, intermediate bearing, air blowing tube (or air injector), baffle, cooling device, manhole, and pipeline.
The system consists of fermentation tanks, air treatment systems, steam purification systems, electrical control systems, constant temperature systems and pipelines, valves, auxiliary systems, sensors and primary instrument systems, lower computer control systems (on-site PLC control system, secondary instruments), upper computer systems, and benches.
