As a raw material for ethylene, the quality of naphtha has attracted increasing attention. Naphtha is a mixture of top oil and top oil extracted from crude oil through atmospheric and vacuum distillation. In the chemical processing of ethylene and butene, trace oxygen-containing compounds often cause catalyst poisoning, such as polymerization of ethylene and butene, and oxidative dehydrogenation of butene to produce butadiene. Therefore, trace oxide analysis of naphtha as an ethylene raw material is particularly important. As a raw material for domestic ethylene production, there are no requirements for oxygen-containing compounds in naphtha. However, with the integration of China's ethylene production technology with international standards, some ethylene manufacturers have also proposed corresponding product quality indicators. Generally, manufacturers require that the oxygen-containing compound content in naphtha should not exceed 50 × 10-6 m/m. This article mainly discusses the method of using gas chromatography to detect oxygen-containing compounds in naphtha. A dedicated gas chromatograph for naphtha, a hydrogen flame detector, and a valve free switching technology are used. A large number of experiments have shown that this method has high analytical accuracy, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) of repeated measurement results is less than 1.5%. The standard addition recovery rate is in the range of 95-105%.
