Multiple types and ranges of pressure detection modules can be obtained from Meriam Process Technolog to provide maximum flexibility and convenience for calibration standards. By installing the module into any of the three grooves of any MFT sensor, Meriam pressure modules can be used in conjunction with any MFT4000 series multifunctional tester. When needed, these modules can be fully interchangeable or heat exchanged to facilitate most pressure testing needs (the regulations for module installation and removal also apply to intrinsically safe MFT units).

The calibration coefficients of all modules are stored in the memory of the non-volatile detector module. This means that any pressure module can be used on any Meriam MFT without manually programming the coefficient matrix. When a module is installed or MFT is powered on, MFT senses the module groove connection, polls the module's calibration coefficient, and configures the display screen to obtain the pressure reading of the last selected engineering unit. Engineering units, including PSI, centimeters or inches of water column (at 4 degrees Celsius, 20 degrees Celsius, or 60 degrees Celsius), kilograms per square centimeter, kilopascals, millibars, bars, millimeters or inches of mercury column (at a reference temperature of 0 degrees Celsius), can be selected from the MFT keyboard.

The Meriam sensor module is designed to be recalibrated on-site using appropriate local calibration standards. The RCAL function of MFT allows customers to adjust the zero point (offset) and full-scale scale (gain) on the calibration curve up to 7. Self weight testers are typically used to apply a known pressure to a module. The RCAL function allows users to input the applied pressure value, which will enable the module to know how to correct its calibration curve. Meriam also relies on pressure modules that include complete documentation and certification to provide recalibration services
