Overview

The determination of COD adopts the closed catalytic digestion method with a digestion tube, the determination of ammonia nitrogen adopts the nano reagent method, and the determination of total phosphorus adopts the ammonium molybdate spectrophotometric method. Detection Principle

COD determination principle (chromium method): In a strong acidic solution and in the presence of excess potassium dichromate, silver sulfate is used as a catalyst to catalyze the oxidation of reducing substances in water by heating. The COD value of the water sample is determined by establishing the relationship between the absorbance value of hexavalent chromium or trivalent chromium and the COD value of the water sample.

The principle of ammonia nitrogen determination (Nessler's reagent method): Ammonia nitrogen in the form of free ammonia or ammonium ions reacts with Nessler's reagent to form a light reddish brown complex. The absorbance of the complex is proportional to the ammonia nitrogen content to determine the ammonia nitrogen content in the water sample.

Principle of total phosphorus determination (ammonium molybdate method): After digestion, all phosphorus in the sample is oxidized to orthophosphate. In an acidic medium, orthophosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate to form phosphomolybdic acid in the presence of antimony salt, which is immediately reduced by ascorbic acid to form a blue complex. Determine the total phosphorus content in the water sample based on the absorbance of the complex.
