In the field of biopharmaceuticals, high concentration formulations have become the core direction of enterprise research and development due to their ability to significantly improve drug delivery efficiency and optimize patient medication experience. With the iteration of biopharmaceutical technology and the upgrading of market demand, high concentration protein preparations, with the convenience of subcutaneous injection, not only support patient self administration and greatly improve medication compliance, but also demonstrate outstanding value in clinical application and commercialization. Currently, more than 20% of FDA approved monoclonal antibody products are high concentration preparations, and the industry development trend is clear.
However, the development and production of high concentration formulations still face multiple technical bottlenecks: viscosity increases exponentially with concentration, the risk of polymer formation increases, drug solubility is insufficient, and stability decreases. This not only increases the difficulty of formulation development, but also poses risks to subsequent process amplification, aseptic filling, and clinical use.
