CpG ODN is a type of synthetic oligodeoxynucleotide containing a non methylated CpG motif, which can specifically activate immune cells expressing TLR9 receptors (such as B cells and plasma cell like dendritic cells pDC). This activation activates the MyD88-IRAK-TRAF6 pathway, rapidly inducing the secretion of various inflammatory factors such as IL-6, TNF - α, and interferon, and greatly enhancing antigen presentation and immune memory response.
As a non methylated CpG oligonucleotide sequence, CpG 1018 plays a vital role in the field of vaccines.
