Some common requirements for the design of intelligent laboratory systems
Date: 2025-07-07Read: 3
The following are some common requirements for the design of laboratory intelligent systems:
1、 In terms of functional requirements
1. Equipment monitoring and management
Capable of real-time monitoring of the operating status of various laboratory equipment, including the on/off status of instruments, operating parameters (such as temperature, pressure, speed, etc.), fault alarm information, etc. For example, for high-precision analytical instruments, it is necessary to accurately obtain the working temperature of their internal key components and issue an alarm in a timely manner once it exceeds the normal range.
Having the ability to remotely control devices, researchers can use terminals (such as computers, mobile phones, etc.) in the laboratory or remotely to operate devices such as turning them on, off, and adjusting parameters, making it convenient to use devices in different scenarios and improving device utilization.
2. Environmental monitoring and regulation
Monitor the environmental parameters of the laboratory from various aspects, including temperature, humidity, air quality (such as harmful gas concentration, dust content, etc.), and light intensity. For example, in a chemical laboratory, it is necessary to monitor the concentration of harmful gases that may be released from hazardous chemicals in real time to ensure personnel safety.
Automatically adjust environmental parameters according to the set threshold, and maintain a stable laboratory environment suitable for scientific research through linkage with air conditioning systems, ventilation equipment, humidifiers, etc., ensuring the accuracy and reproducibility of experimental results.
3. Personnel management and security assurance
Implement permission management for personnel entering and leaving the laboratory, using various methods such as card swiping, fingerprint recognition, and facial recognition to record personnel's entry and exit time, identity information, etc., for easy traceability and management.
Equipped with safety warning function, it can quickly issue an alarm and notify relevant personnel in case of abnormal situations such as fire, water leakage, and electric leakage, and activate corresponding emergency measures, such as automatically turning on fire sprinklers, turning off the power supply of dangerous equipment, etc.
4. Data management and sharing
Collect and store various experimental data in the laboratory, including data generated by instruments and equipment, manually recorded data, etc., and establish a comprehensive database. The storage of data should have high security and reliability to prevent data loss and tampering.
Support data sharing function, facilitate data exchange and collaboration among laboratory members and between different laboratories, and promote the output of scientific research results. For example, researchers can easily view experimental data of other members in the same project for comparative analysis.
2、 Performance requirements for the design of laboratory intelligent systems
1. Stability
The entire intelligent system should have high stability and be able to operate continuously for a long time without any malfunctions or crashes, ensuring the normal operation of the laboratory's daily work. For example, in scenarios that require continuous monitoring and control, such as conducting long-term material aging experiments, stable system operation is crucial.
Equipped with redundant design, key equipment and lines have backups, which can automatically switch to backup equipment when the main equipment fails, ensuring the continuous operation of the system and reducing the risk of experimental interruption caused by system failures.
2. Response speed
For equipment control instructions, environmental parameter adjustment instructions, etc., it is generally required to respond quickly, in seconds or even shorter, to meet the high real-time requirements of the experimental process. For example, in some fast reaction chemical experiments, timely adjustment of environmental parameters such as ventilation is crucial.
The frequency of data collection should meet the experimental requirements, and parameters that change rapidly should be collected and recorded in a timely and accurate manner to avoid missing important information.
3. Compatibility
It is necessary to be compatible with various brands and models of equipment in the laboratory. Whether it is domestic or imported instruments and equipment, they can be connected to intelligent systems for unified management and control, avoiding the need to replace a large number of existing equipment due to system incompatibility.
It can be well integrated with other existing management systems in the laboratory, such as the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and the Scientific Research Management System, to achieve data interoperability and functional collaboration, and create an integrated laboratory management ecosystem.
3、 Requirements for usability of laboratory intelligent system design
1. User friendly interface
Design a simple and intuitive operating interface that is convenient for researchers to operate, whether it is the device monitoring interface, environmental parameter setting interface, or data query interface. Even those who are not familiar with complex information technology can quickly get started and reduce operational errors. For example, using graphical displays of device status and environmental parameters, and using intuitive buttons for control operations.
Provide operation tips and help documents, and enable users to view the introduction and usage instructions of relevant functions on the interface at any time, making it convenient for users to solve problems on their own in a timely manner during use.
2. Easy maintenance
The system has self diagnostic function, which can timely detect potential problems in its software and hardware, and provide clear fault prompt information, making it easy for maintenance personnel to quickly locate and repair faults.
The installation and replacement of hardware devices should be simple and convenient, adopting modular design, without the need for complex wiring and debugging processes, reducing maintenance costs and difficulties, and ensuring long-term stable operation of the system.
