Gresheim is a global partner in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and skincare industries, dedicated to providing innovative systems and solutions to customers. Due to the transparent disclosure of climate related goals, processes, and performance in the company's environmental management system, it has been awarded an A rating by CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project). This rating gives Gerresheimer a "leadership" status, placing the company far above the global average and industry average - both of which are C-level. CDP is a non-profit independent organization dedicated to promoting environmental data disclosure by businesses, cities, states, and regions. This recognition further highlights Gresham's continued progress in implementing its sustainable development strategy. Sustainable development is an important component of Gresham's corporate strategy, known as the "formula g" strategy.
Our environmental management drives innovation and investment in cutting-edge technologies, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the company, "said Dietmar Siemssen, CEO of Gerresheimer AG." At the same time, by reducing carbon dioxide emissions, we also help our clients achieve their climate protection goals
An open and transparent environmental management system
Since 2011, Gresheim has been actively involved in CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project), which is one of the world's largest environmental impact disclosure and management initiatives. As part of this commitment, the company reports its climate strategy and management methods annually. The carbon dioxide emissions of all production bases are collected, analyzed, and managed through a structured process. Gracheim releases a detailed annual report every year, detailing the measures implemented and the progress made. During the CDP rating cycle, the company received the highest ratings in multiple subcategories, including emission reduction measures, low-carbon products, management of dependencies, impact, risk and opportunity, governance, and risk disclosure and data validation.
  Ambitious carbon dioxide reduction targets
According to the corporate strategy 'Formula G', Gresheim plans to reduce carbon emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 50% by 2030. Scope 1 emissions include all direct emissions generated from Gresham's operational activities, while Scope 2 emissions cover indirect emissions from energy supply. The company plans to reduce energy demand by adopting the most advanced production technology and aims to achieve 100% electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030. As of the end of 2024, Gresham's emissions have decreased by 28% compared to the baseline year of 2019, with electricity from renewable sources accounting for 55%.
Certification rating for disclosure and management of carbon dioxide emissions
CDP was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in London. It is a leading non-profit independent organization operating the world's most comprehensive environmental data collection system. CDP evaluates the climate change, water resources, and forest management performance of enterprises annually from A to F, examining their goal setting, management processes, and actual results. In 2024, a total of 22780 companies worldwide participated in CDP ratings, demonstrating their transparency in environmental management and commitment to building resilient business models.
