In the rapidly developing energy storage industry, the ability of energy storage containers to cope with adverse weather conditions is crucial as a key facility. The rain test is an important part of testing its waterproof performance, with strict and meticulous standards.

Multiple basic standards provide a basis for rain testing.GB/T 4208-2017 "Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures (IP Code)" is equivalent to IEC 60529:2013, which comprehensively defines the IP protection level and covers the testing methods for waterproof levels from IPX1 to IPX9K. GB/T 5338.1-2023 "General Container Part 1: General Technical Conditions" specifies the environmental adaptability and waterproof requirements of containers. GB/T 44026-2024 "Technical Specification for Prefabricated Cabin Lithium ion Battery Energy Storage System" requires that the protection level of the battery compartment should not be lower than IP54.
1Recommendations for different levels of environmental protection
There are corresponding protection levels recommended by the industry for different outdoor environments. In general outdoor environments,IP54 is more suitable and can prevent dust from entering and splashing water in all directions. In rainy areas, IP55 is recommended, which combines dust prevention and water spray protection in all directions. Coastal or high humidity environments, IP65 can fully prevent dust and resist strong water spray. In severe weather areas, IP66 can withstand heavy rainfall.
IIKey waterproof grade parameters
1. IPX4 (splash proof): Using a spherical nozzle with 121 0.5mm small holes, water flow rate of 10 ± 0.5L/min, water pressure of 20-50kPa, nozzle distance of 2.5-3m from the sample, achieving 360 ° full squarenoodlesSplashing water, simulating daily splashing rain scenes, with no less than3 minutes.
2. IPX5 (anti spray): 304 stainless steel nozzle, inner diameter 6.3mm, water flow rate 12.5 ± 0.625L/min, water pressure 30-150kPa (commonly used, nozzle distance from sample 2.5-3m, spray angle 360 °, nozzle inclination angle 15 ° -20 °). Calculate the test time based on a surface area of 80-100kPa per square meter for 1 minute, with a total duration of not less than 3 minutes.
3. IPX6 (anti strong spray): The nozzle material is 304 or 316 stainless steel, with an inner diameter of 12.5mm, a water flow rate of 100 ± 5L/min, and a water pressure of about 10 times IPX5, which is 1000-1500kPa. The nozzle is positioned 2.5-3m away from the sample and sprayed in all directions, with a focus on critical areas such as joints and interfaces. The calculation method for the test time is the same as IPX5, and the total duration is not less than 3 minutes.
