The main differences between polypropylene filter and activated carbon filter are material, filtration effect, and application scenarios.
Material and filtering effect
Polypropylene filter cartridge: Polypropylene filter cartridges are usually made by hot-melt entanglement of polypropylene ultrafine fibers, forming a three-dimensional microporous structure. Its pore size range is wide, ranging from 0.5 microns to 100 microns, mainly used for filtering large particle impurities and suspended solids. The advantages of polypropylene filter are high flux, corrosion resistance, and high pressure resistance, but the filtration accuracy is low and it cannot remove small particulate matter.
Activated carbon filter: The activated carbon filter uses high adsorption value coal or coconut shell activated carbon, which is formed by sintering and compression. Activated carbon has a developed pore structure and a huge specific surface area, which can adsorb organic matter, residual chlorine, odors, etc. in water. The advantage of activated carbon filter is its strong adsorption capacity, which can significantly improve water quality and taste. However, its adsorption capacity is limited and needs to be replaced after saturation.
Application scenarios
Polypropylene filter element: commonly used for primary filtration in household water purifiers, such as PP cotton filter element, used to remove suspended solids, sediment, rust and other large particle impurities in water. Due to its corrosion resistance and high pressure resistance, it is also suitable for industrial and commercial fields.
Activated carbon filter: suitable for situations where organic matter, residual chlorine, and odors need to be removed from water.
