Working principle of composite silicone heater
Date: 2025-04-03Read: 6
The working principle of composite silicone heater is based on the synergistic effect of electric heating effect and material composite structure, which can be divided into the following core steps:
1. Heating layer electric thermal conversion
The core heating element is nickel chromium alloy heating wire or nickel alloy foil. When current passes through alloy materials, Joule heating is generated due to the resistance characteristics, converting electrical energy into thermal energy and achieving the generation of basic heat sources.
2. Composite structure thermal conductivity and insulation
The heating element is encapsulated in an insulation layer composed of silicone and glass fiber cloth, which not only ensures insulation safety, but also achieves rapid and uniform heat transfer through the high thermal conductivity of silicone (about 1.5mm standard thickness). In some designs, the insulation layer and the thermal conductive layer are combined through a multi-layer composite process to further enhance the thermal conductivity efficiency.
3. Mechanical fixation and thermal contact
The edge of the heater is often equipped with metal or spring buckles, which are mechanically fixed to tightly adhere to the surface of the heated object (such as pipes or tanks), reducing thermal resistance and ensuring efficient heat transfer to the target area.
4. Temperature control and stability
Integrated temperature sensor and controller, real-time monitoring of the temperature of the heated object and feedback adjustment of current on/off or voltage intensity to maintain dynamic balance of the target temperature.
Typical Layered Structure Diagram

Outer layer: composite insulation layer of silicone and fiberglass cloth (with both flexibility and high temperature resistance)
Intermediate layer: Nickel based alloy heating element (electric heating wire/foil)
Bottom layer: Thermal conductive silicone or metal substrate (enhanced thermal conductivity)
Attachment: Fixed buckle, power interface, temperature control module
This design achieves efficient, uniform, and controllable heating effects through material composite and functional layering, suitable for industrial equipment preheating, pipeline tracing, and other scenarios.
