Working principle and application of digital pressure transmitter
Date: 2025-06-19Read: 6
Digital pressure transmitter is an industrial measuring device that converts pressure signals into standard electrical signals and displays them in real-time. It is widely used in multiple fields. The following is a comprehensive explanation of its working principle and application.
1、 Working principle
The working principle of a digital pressure transmitter mainly includes three key steps: pressure sensing, signal conversion, and digital display:
1. Pressure sensing: The pressure of the measured medium acts on the sensitive components of the sensor (such as silicon or ceramic membranes), causing them to undergo small deformations; Piezoresistive sensors use the piezoresistive effect of silicon to change the resistance value, while capacitive sensors change the capacitance value by changing the electrode plate spacing, thereby converting pressure into electrical signals.
2. Signal conversion: The weak electrical signal output by the sensor (such as changes in resistance or capacitance) is processed by a Wheatstone bridge circuit or a dedicated amplifier circuit and converted into a linear voltage or current signal; The built-in chip microprocessor (such as A/D converter) filters, compensates, and calibrates signals to eliminate interference such as temperature drift, and outputs standardized 4-20mA current or RS485 digital signals.
3. Digital display: The processed signal calculates the pressure value through a microprocessor and is displayed in real-time in numerical or graphical form on an LCD or LED screen. It also supports zero calibration and range setting; Communication interfaces (such as HART, MODBUS) enable data transmission and remote control with PLCs or computers.

2、 Application
Digital pressure transmitters, with high precision, protection level (such as IP67), and explosion-proof design, are suitable for the following key areas:
1. Industrial process control: used for fluid pressure monitoring in petrochemical, power systems, and water treatment plants, displaying pressure values in real-time to optimize process safety and efficiency.
2. Automation and Manufacturing: In hydraulic equipment, machine forging, and industrial automation production lines, vacuum adsorption handling, airtightness testing, and pressure closed-loop control are achieved to ensure production stability and product quality.
3. Special environmental applications: including vacuum chamber pressure monitoring in semiconductor manufacturing, vacuum degree assurance in food packaging, and pressure regulation in natural gas transmission and distribution systems, suitable for high temperature, corrosive, or hazardous environments.
4. Infrastructure and Energy: In the fields of hydropower, boiler monitoring, and aerospace, reliable pressure data is provided to support equipment maintenance and energy management.
