In terms of hygiene, packaging sealing also plays a key role. Wet wipes usually contain a certain amount of moisture and moisturizers, which provide a breeding ground for bacteria. If the packaging is poorly sealed, bacteria, dust, and other pollutants from the outside air will take advantage of the situation and enter the interior of the packaging, contaminating the wet wipes. In the medical field, high hygiene conditions are required. If there is a problem with the sealing of the packaging of disinfectant wipes, leading to bacterial contamination, not only can the expected disinfection effect not be achieved during use, but cross infection may also occur, posing serious health risks to patients.
The standard GBT 27728-2011 Test Method for Sealing Performance of Flexible Packaging Parts plays an irreplaceable role in ensuring the quality of moisture tissue packaging. It provides clear technical specifications for wet wipe production enterprises, enabling them to follow rules and regulations in the production process, strictly inspect product packaging according to unified standards, and ensure product quality stability.

The selection of samples is the primary step in testing work, and its scientific and rational nature directly affects the reliability and effectiveness of the test results. When conducting sealing tests on wet tissue soft packaging, we need to select a sufficient number of representative wet tissue samples.
From a statistical perspective, the more samples there are, the more accurately they can reflect the overall quality of the product. Generally speaking, based on the production batch and batch size of the product, we should select at least 20-30 wet tissue samples. For products produced on a large scale, such as those with a daily output of thousands or even tens of thousands of packages, increasing the sample size appropriately to 50 or more can further improve the reliability of the test results.
As a key equipment for testing, the performance status of the FFY-06 flexible packaging sealing tester directly affects the accuracy of the test results. Before each test, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive and detailed inspection.
Appearance inspection is the first step, we need to carefully check whether the outer shell of the instrument is damaged, deformed or scratched. Because these appearance issues may suggest potential faults within the instrument, such as deformation of the casing causing displacement of internal components and affecting the normal operation of the instrument. At the same time, it is necessary to check whether the various connection parts of the instrument, such as power lines, vacuum tubes, sensor connection lines, etc., are firmly connected and whether there is any looseness, damage or aging phenomenon. If the power cord has poor contact, it may cause the instrument to suddenly power off during the testing process, affecting the testing progress and data integrity; If the vacuum tube is damaged, it may lead to poor vacuum pumping effect and inability to accurately simulate the vacuum environment required for testing.
Next, it is necessary to check the display screen and operation buttons of the instrument. Turn on the power of the instrument, observe whether the display screen lights up normally, whether the displayed numbers and icons are clear and accurate, and whether there are any garbled or flickering phenomena. When operating the buttons, feel whether the tactile sensation of the buttons is normal, whether they respond promptly after being pressed, and whether various functions can be achieved normally. For example, when setting the test vacuum degree and vacuum holding time, whether the key operation can accurately input the required parameters, and whether the parameters displayed on the screen are consistent with the input.
Key inspections are also required for the core components of the instrument, such as vacuum pumps and pressure sensors. The vacuum pump is a key component for achieving vacuum pumping function. Check whether its operating sound is normal and whether there are any abnormal vibrations or noises. If the vacuum pump makes sharp noise during operation, it may indicate that its internal mechanical components are worn and need to be repaired or replaced in a timely manner. The pressure sensor is responsible for detecting the vacuum degree, comparing it with a standard pressure source to check whether its measurement accuracy is within the allowable error range. For example, using a standard pressure source with a known accurate pressure value to connect to the instrument, check if the deviation between the displayed pressure value and the standard value is within the specified ± 1kPa range. If it exceeds the range, the pressure sensor needs to be calibrated or replaced.
environmental control
Conducting sealing tests on wet tissue soft packaging in a constant temperature and humidity environment (temperature 23 ± 1 ℃, relative humidity 50 ± 5%) is an important prerequisite for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results, which is supported by sufficient scientific evidence.
Temperature has a significant impact on the physical properties of flexible packaging materials. In high temperature environments, flexible packaging materials will expand due to heat, increasing the distance between their molecules, resulting in enhanced flexibility of the material, but at the same time, it may also reduce the sealing performance of the packaging. For example, when the temperature rises above 30 ℃, some plastic film materials commonly used in wet tissue packaging may become softer, and the sealing strength at the seal may decrease. The originally well sealed packaging may have small gaps, which can affect the accuracy of test results. On the contrary, in low-temperature environments, flexible packaging materials will shrink and become harder, becoming more fragile and prone to cracking or rupture, which will also interfere with the accurate judgment of packaging sealing. For example, when the temperature drops below 15 ℃, some plastic films may lose their elasticity and may rupture during testing due to slight external forces. This rupture is not caused by sealing defects in the packaging itself, but by temperature factors.
The impact of relative humidity on flexible packaging and wet wipes cannot be ignored. In high humidity environments, the moisture content in the air is high, and wet tissue packaging is prone to absorbing moisture, causing the packaging material to become soft and deformed, affecting its sealing performance. Moreover, wet wipes themselves can absorb too much moisture, altering their own humidity balance, which can interfere with the assessment of packaging sealing during testing due to changes in the moisture content of the wet wipes themselves. A low humidity environment may cause rapid evaporation of moisture in wet wipes, leading to dryness and affecting the sealing test results of packaging. For example, in an environment with a relative humidity below 40%, a large amount of water in wet tissues will dissipate in a short period of time, causing changes in the pressure inside the packaging. Even if the packaging itself has good sealing, it may be misjudged as poor sealing due to the pressure changes caused by this water loss.
Maintaining a constant temperature and humidity can provide a stable environmental condition for testing, avoid interference from environmental factors on test results, and ensure that test results truly reflect the sealing performance of wet tissue soft packaging. Many wet tissue manufacturers strictly follow this environmental requirement for packaging sealing testing in the actual production process, effectively improving the stability and reliability of product quality.
Detailed testing process
Vacuum tank preparation
The preparation of a vacuum can is the crucial first step in conducting a sealing test on wet tissue soft packaging. When opening the vacuum tank, the action should be smooth and slow to avoid damage to the components inside the tank due to improper operation. Prepare an appropriate amount of clean water, which should be pure, free of impurities and pollution, to avoid interfering with the test results. Slowly pour clean water into the vacuum tank, paying close attention to changes in water level during the process. When the water level gradually rises and approaches the upper side of the porous pressure plate, slow down the pouring speed and use a dropwise addition method to ensure that the final water level is accurately 10mm higher than the upper side of the porous pressure plate. This precise water level control is crucial, as a high water level may cause water to splash into the wet tissue packaging sample during the vacuum pumping process, affecting the accuracy of the test results; If the water level is too low, it cannot effectively simulate the pressure environment of the packaging in actual use, and the sealing performance of the packaging cannot be accurately detected. For example, in a test conducted by a wet tissue production enterprise, due to operator negligence, the water level was raised to 15mm above the upper side of the porous pressure plate. As a result, some wet tissue packaging samples were splashed with water during the test, leading to the misjudgment of the originally well sealed packaging as leaking, resulting in unnecessary losses.
