Test method for sealing of wet tissue packaging
Date: 2025-05-16Read: 6

Testing instrument: Ruilai Platinum brand FFY-06 flexible packaging sealing tester

Start FFY-06Soft packaging sealing testerAfterwards, it is necessary to accurately set the experimental parameters, with the experimental vacuum degree set to 10 kPa ± 1 kPa and the vacuum holding time set to 30 seconds. These parameter settings are not arbitrary, but have sufficient scientific basis and practical considerations.

From the perspective of vacuum degree, the setting of 10 kPa ± 1 kPa takes into account the pressure that wet tissue soft packaging may withstand during actual transportation, storage, and use. During transportation, wet tissue packaging may experience changes in altitude and air pressure; In the storage environment, packaging is also affected by the surrounding air pressure. After extensive practical testing and research, it has been found that within this vacuum degree range, it is possible to effectively simulate the negative pressure environment that packaging may face in actual use, thereby detecting whether there are small leakage points in the packaging. If the vacuum degree is too low, some subtle sealing defects may not be detected; If the vacuum degree is too high, it may cause excessive pressure on the packaging, resulting in the originally well sealed packaging being unable to withstand the high pressure and causing rupture or leakage, leading to misjudgment.

The vacuum holding time is set to 30 seconds to ensure that during this period, any leakage in the packaging can be fully observed. Within these 30 seconds, if there is a gas leak inside the packaging, bubbles will continue to be generated, making it easier for operators to observe and judge. If the duration is too short, some leakage situations may end the test before they can manifest, resulting in missed detections; Keeping it for too long will reduce testing efficiency and increase testing costs. Through long-term practical verification, a vacuum holding time of 30 seconds can achieve an efficient testing process while ensuring testing accuracy.

Sample testing

Carefully place the prepared wet tissue packaging sample into the vacuum can, ensuring that the sample is placed smoothly and avoiding any impact on the test results due to sample shaking during the vacuum pumping process. When closing the vacuum can lid, it is necessary to check the sealing between the lid and the can body. A small amount of vacuum silicone grease can be applied to the sealing ring to enhance the sealing effect and prevent external air from entering the vacuum can and interfering with the test. After starting the vacuum extraction process, closely monitor the changes in vacuum degree to ensure that it quickly reaches 10 kPa ± 1 kPa according to the set parameters.

Observing whether the sample produces continuous bubbles during vacuuming and vacuum holding is a key step in determining whether the packaging is leaking. The operator needs to remain focused and maintain an appropriate distance and angle between their eyes and the vacuum chamber in order to clearly observe various parts of the sample. If continuous bubbles are found, it indicates that there is a leakage point in the packaging, and the location of the leakage and the frequency of bubble generation should be immediately recorded. It should be noted that a single isolated bubble is usually not considered a sample leak, as it may be caused by tiny impurities on the packaging surface or tiny bubbles adhering to the packaging in the testing environment; Bubbles generated by external packaging accessories during the testing process are not considered leaks. For example, bubbles generated by labels, handles, and other parts of the packaging may be due to the material or structural characteristics of these components themselves, rather than sealing issues with the packaging body.

After the experiment is completed, when opening the vacuum can lid and taking out the wet tissue packaging sample, it is necessary to avoid collisions between the sample and the can wall or other objects to prevent secondary damage to the sample. Use a clean and soft towel or tissue to gently wipe off the moisture on the surface of the sample, paying attention to the gentle wiping process to avoid excessive force that may cover up or expand the leakage points on the packaging surface.

Checking for water infiltration inside the packaging is an important step in the testing process. Carefully observe the various parts inside the packaging, especially the sealing, corners, and areas where there may be weak points. If moisture is found to have infiltrated, it indicates that there is a problem with the sealing performance of the packaging, and further analysis of the reasons is needed, such as quality issues with the packaging materials, defects in the sealing process, etc. This inspection step is of great significance for determining the actual sealing effect of the packaging. Even if no obvious bubbles are observed during the vacuum process, if water seeps into the interior of the packaging, it indicates a potential sealing hazard that may affect the quality and shelf life of wet wipes.
